The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park bazaar opened on Friday, offering a diverse range of products such as artworks, handicrafts and food items, among others.
The bazaar, which continues on Saturday for its first weekend this season, serves as a fitting platform for 250 home-based entrepreneurs to further promote and market their products, as well as showcase their talent and creativity.
“It is a good opportunity for people to see what we do and for people who see us online to see the products live,” Lilly’s Handmade Naturals owner Diala Itani told Gulf Times.
Apart from having a beautiful venue, she said the event also showcases an array of products for MIA Park visitors and regular customers. It will run every weekend until spring. Besides the usual items such as apparel, jewellery and toys, many stalls also offer postcards, greeting cards, artworks and paintings, handmade home decors, traditional Indian dresses, carpets, and personal accessories.

Other products include cosmetics, stylish bed sheets, toys, children’s shoes and dresses, bags, abayas, perfumes and kites, among others.
Visitors can also try various freshly cooked traditional and international cuisines at the food section such as Thai, Filipino, Malaysian, Turkish, and Indian, as well as sweets, drinks and delicacies.
Like Diala Itani, Shiraj MH from India, who sells traditional Indian dresses for ladies, told Gulf Times that they expect to receive more customers this season compared to the previous bazaar last year, which was also held at the MIA Park.
“The response of the public was excellent and we believe it will attract more residents and visitors to come and buy the products from here,” he said while showing his new collection and designs.
The statement was echoed by Tamer Bassiouny, saying that the bazaar is very much appealing to a large number of families, groups, and individuals who are spending their weekend at the MIA Park.
Bassiouny, also a first-time participant, is selling shirts, caps, mugs, key chains and car stickers bearing the 'Tamim Al Majd' image.
