Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) launched its business class service between Doha and Manila on Sunday, providing passengers with more options and several amenities on board its reconfigured A330-300 aircraft.
“We have made significant strides in developing the flight between Doha and Manila since we launched it on March 29 last year,” PAL-Qatar area manager Marvin Aranzanso said in a statement. “This product enhancement will help promote the leisure travel to the Philippines.”
“The Philippines has so many beautiful destinations to offer and Philippine Airlines can fly you to these destinations with a warm caring service that is distinctly Filipino,” he added.
PAL officials also decided to scrap the stop-over in Abu Dhabi and introduce non-stop flights to the Philippines four times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) starting March 16 this year, according to Aranzanso.
PAL's business class seats can be converted into fully flat beds.
Flight PR684 leaves Manila at 1.20pm and arrives in Doha at 6pm, while flight PR685 leaves Doha at 8pm and arrives in Manila at 9.15am the following day.
Some of the amenities for business class include lounge access, free check-in baggage allowance of two pieces (each not exceeding 32kg), more flexible ticket conditions, dedicated check-in counters, priority baggage and higher flight mileage accrual (double miles promo for members of the ‘Mabuhay Miles mileage programme’).
Business class passengers can also avail of the free use of iPad on board and other amenities. PAL’s free wireless entertainment allows passengers to stream in-flight movies, TV shows, music and magazines using their personal devices through the app 'myPAL'player.
Passengers can also get in touch with their loved ones while on board with MyPAL Wifi. Personal devices can be charged at in-seat power supply and USB ports.
The aircraft for these PAL flight have been reconfigured with business class (18 seats), premium economy and economy. Business class seats can be converted into fully flat beds, giving passengers direct aisle access.
Philippine ambassador Alan L Timbayan lauded PAL and the tourism industry for continuously providing new travel products and services to the Qatar market, aimed at supporting the programmes and projects of the Philippine government.
PAL is now the only commercial airline of the Philippines flying direct between Manila and Doha after Cebu Pacific Air scrapped its flights to Doha.
