Despite the challenges in the region in 2016, Ferrari remained the leader in the Gulf with a large percentage of market share in the luxury segment, the company’s MENA region general manager Giulio Zauner has said.

Qatar, he noted, represents a good figure – “a market where clients love bespoke cars so much, and they really buy 'supernice' cars.”

Speaking to Gulf Times on the sidelines of Ferrari’s 70th anniversary celebration at Marsa Malaz Kempinski recently, Zauner described Qataris 'as super sophisticated clients' who prefer the brand’s personalisation programme wherein they can choose the colours, fabrics, leathers, woods, and other materials for their orders.

Zauner was joined by Charly Dagher, general manager of Ferrari Qatar, Alfardan Sports Motors (official importer of Ferrari in Qatar), at the unveiling of the special limited-edition LaFerrari Aperta.

About the rising competition, the Ferrari senior official said that they do not compare with others, who normally go for the volume.

“Last year, we finished with a total of 8,000 cars, tell me how many innovators are producing Italian cars? No one, just Ferrari,” Zauner said.

“We are going to the direction of quality of sales, to create what really is Ferrari,” he added. “Our equation is quite different from the others.”

“When you want to buy a Ferrari, there is just Ferrari, you know the price, you know that it is a car that represents the future. It is not selling cars and dreams but selling the future,” noted Zauner, as he stressed the need to have innovative people.

“In Qatar, let me say it is positive, with partners, special product, and service,” he added.

Zauner said they unveiled Ferrari’s new V12, the 812 Superfast, at the Geneva Motor Show early this year, a testament of the company’s passion for innovation.

“The 812 Superfast is the first with 800 horse power, and believe me, by the end of the year, we will give you another surprise, but I cannot reveal it now,” he added.
