Indian Women’s Association (IWA)-Qatar will host its 20th Inter School Quiz competition, 'IWA- Aster Kids Brain Quest ’16 this Friday (December 9) at Birla Public School from 5pm. Gulf Times is the official media partner.
IWA president Jotshna Dey announced on Sunday that the quiz competition, to be hosted by 
renowned quiz master Siddhartha Basu, is open for students of classes from 7-9.
"Over 12 schools have already registered for the competition. There will be a special show by mentalist Aathi that will add more value to the event. This quiz contest, which started in 1986, has grown in prestige and stature since then and has now entered in its 20th year.”
Aster DM Healthcare Qatar CEO Dr Sameer Moopan, highlighted that Aster was collaborating for the first time with the most prestigious interschool quiz competition in Qatar with the highly acclaimed quiz master Basu.
“Aster Kids is an initiative by Aster DM Healthcare to promote the importance of preventive healthcare and reach out to kids who are the most promising citizens to lead the nation tomorrow. Several activities and initiatives will be conducted over the next few months by Aster DM Healthcare in Qatar under the Aster Kids Programme,” said Dr. Moopan.
Aster Kids programme has three major initiatives. “In addition to the quiz competition, we aim to train children in health activities such as first aid and raise awareness on diet and exercises. We plan to organise a sports day as well as a cultural and literary event for the students. The sports day is open to children in the age group of 3-12 and the literary event for students of classes 7-9. All the activities are open to students from all the nationalities.”
The Aster Kids programme is already in operation in the UAE, Oman and India and aims to nurture the holistic development of the children, added the official.
Basu is best known as producer-director of television shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati and Dus Ka Dum. He started with an inter collegiate quiz show Quiz Time in the 1980s on an Indian channel. Basu has also conducted a number of live multimedia quiz contests on the corporate, college, and school circuits.
Aathi is a leading mentalist from Kerala, who designs and conducts lectures and theatre shows internationally to explore and exploit the psychology of deception.
The schools that have already registered are Al Khor International School, Bhavan’s Public School, Birla public School, Stafford Srilankan School, Ideal Indian School, DPS- Modern Indian School, Doha Modern Indian School, Shanthinikethan Indian School, Bright Future International School, MES Indian School, Philippine School Doha, and Philippine International School.
Entry passes to the quiz show are available at Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) and the participating schools.
