The seven-day Eid al-Adha festivity, organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) across various malls, concluded after entertaining thousands of residents and visitors, mostly families.

QTA highlighted the continuous support and co-operation of its partners in hosting the shows and activities for a varied audience, including those from neighbouring GCC countries.

“Eid celebrations in Qatar were a grand success, thanks to the extensive collaboration and backing of our partners in the retail, hospitality and entertainment sectors in support of our efforts to diversify the country’s tourism offering,” QTA’s Tourism Events and Festivals director Mashal Shahbik said in a press statement.

She noted that festivals, such as Eid al-Fitr, Qatar Summer Festival, and Eid al-Adha which are held annually, form an important part of Qatar’s strategy to build a rich calendar of events that drive footfall to the country’s venues and attract visitors year-round.

“Following on the successful run of festivals we have delivered this year in partnership with the private sector, we are looking forward to exploring new additions to the annual events calendar,” Shahbik stressed.

Performers, mostly artistes from the UK, have been providing one-of-a-kind shows in the past seven days.

Organisers of each show had also given children an opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ the artistes who portrayed their favourite cartoon and fairy tale characters on stage.

‘Tarzan’ proved to be a crowd puller as it filled City Center Doha’s skating rink with a large number spectators at each show while ‘Beauty and the Beast’ charmed both adults and children at Dar Al Salam Mall.

Alvin and the Chipmunks’ life-size mascots, as well as other performers, enthralled the crowd at Ezdan Mall while the action-comedy show ‘Pirates from the Caribbean’ wowed young spectators at Lagoona Mall with their songs and dances, as well as their funny conversations.

Al Khor Mall’s hosting of the Flying Super Kids show had also seen a continuous flow of mallgoers for seven days while Hyatt Plaza treated visitors with Sinbad the Sailor (performed by Lebanese artistes in Arabic) at its crowded food court.

Besides family entertainment shows at malls, several Eid celebrations at different locations in Qatar also received a large number of visitors who enjoyed watching cultural shows and fireworks display at(four days).

Other venues included Souq Waqif, Katara – the Cultural Village, The Pearl-Qatar, Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve, Dahl Al Hamam Park, Aspire Zone, Sheikh Fasial Bin Qasim Al Thani Museum, Aqua Park, Qatar National Convention Centre, Sealine Beach, and Asian Town.
