Activities, rides and attractions lined up at Entertainment City, the main venue for Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) 2016, are making the summer a lot more colourful for visitors.
Organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the month-long event - dubbed "Colour Your Summer" - has been engaging children in various games and shows on the 'Entertainment Stage' even as their parents cheer for them.
A number of visitors have lauded this year’s Entertainment City for its "unique set-up, wide range of entertainment offerings and location (Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre in West Bay)", which they say is easily accessible.
QTA has also partnered with Qatar Foundation’s National Reading Campaign to set up an area for reading and “a maze that takes children on a journey to find one of several endings to a story, depending on the path they take”.
At the festivals and events it organises, QTA provides prime space to support and bolster the campaign’s reach and strengthen its overall impact.
“Our support for this initiative stems from a firm belief that youth in Qatar must be equipped with the tools to develop the country’s key sectors, to ensure they are reflective of and embedded in national culture and heritage,” QTA said in a statement.
Besides the thrill rides and attractions, the food court is another crowd favourite at the City, drawing many visitors to try the food and sweets offered at 26 stalls.

More than 70 video games are attracting QSF visitors.

Families, as well as groups of people, have also had the chance to play and win prizes such as stuffed toys in the Skill Games zone.
Despite the dusty weather on Friday, a large number of local and foreign visitors (from other GCC countries) came to the Entertainment City, a QSF staff member told Gulf Times.
“We have seen many families and children from Saudi Arabia over the past few days,” she said, adding that they have recorded increasing sales of VIP entry tickets from Day I of the festival.
The festival will also host a sports entertainment event titled "Street Madness" at Al Gharafa Sports Club from 4pm on August 12.
The mini-football league will see the participation of six teams led by social media influencers and celebrities from around the region.
Between the matches, artistes and comedians, including rapper Qusai, artiste Hajar al-Muteiri and comedic band Al Sheyab, will perform on stage to entertain spectators.
Meanwhile, 18 stand-up comedians from around the region will perform during the festival, from August 18 to 20, at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
