A large number of PHCC officials, medical staff of the new centre, and a number of municipal council members and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
The minister toured the facility, interacted with the officials and checked the services available at the new centre.
Al Thumama Health Centre's services include public clinics, vaccination clinics, non- communicable diseases clinics, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, dental clinic, and medical commission. The centre also offers new disciplines such as ophthalmology, dermatology and mental health clinics.
Dr Abdulmalik said that the new health centre aims at development in the quality of the health services and implementing the best global systems and projects.
"Al Thumama Health Centre is built according to the latest international specifications and quality standards and provides specialised medical services to residents of nearby areas," she explained.
Dr. Samya al-Abdullah, executive director, Operation Department, PHCC, explained that the new health centre is characterised by its large area and modern medical equipment according to international standards. It is a typical high-quality building according to the latest architectural model for primary health care centres in Qatar.
She also pointed out that the new centre will present integrated and comprehensive health and preventive services including family medicine clinics, antenatal care clinic, healthy child clinic, ENT clinic, as well as providing pre-matrimonial services, home care services, physiotherapy and other services.
Al Thumama Health Centre will provide health services to the residents of the areas of 47, 46, 45, 44, 42, 27, 17 and 16. It is expected that the new health centre will be able to accommodate between 20,000 to 30,000 people when fully operational.
The health centre is built on 8,000sqm of land and has two levels of basement parking.
