Committee to study gas smell

A committee has been formed under the directives of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani to study gas smell in the air around Qatar. The committee held its initial meeting, under the presidency of the director-general of Public Security and chairman of the Permanent Emergency Committee, with the agencies concerned yesterday.  The committee decided to set up a team that will work with members from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Energy and Industry, General Directorate of Civil Defence and Qatar Fuel (Woqod).  The team will observe air monitoring stations across the country to check the air quality. It will also receive complaints at the operations room of the  Environment Ministry on 998 or the central operation room on 999.

Mild rains likely today

Mild rains are forecast today. The Met department expected today to be cloudy at many places. Though the general visibility would be in the region of 5-10km  it could drop to 3km or less at times. Qatar’s western areas will be more warmer than other regions, with the maximum temperature in Dukhan and Abu Samra expected to touch 31 degree Celsius.
