Commercial Bank has participated in the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held recently in Bangkok, Thailand.

Convened by the Boards of Governors of the IMF and the World Bank Group (WBG), the Annual Meetings gathered central bankers, finance and development ministers, private sector leaders, academics and other economic and financial stakeholders to discuss key issues shaping the global economy, including economic growth, financial stability, investment and job creation.

Commercial Bank was represented at the meetings by board members Sheikh Jabor bin Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani and Hussain Omar Alfardan; Group CEO Stephen Moss; EGM, Chief Wholesale and International Banking officer Fahad Badar; EGM, Treasury and Investments Omran al-Sherawi; EGM and Chief Communications and Marketing officer Eiman Mohamed al-Naemi; and AGM, head of Financial Institutions Mansoor Salem.

During the meetings, Commercial Bank’s delegation engaged with leading banks and financial institutions from across the region and international markets, exchanging perspectives on financial sector developments, market sentiment, and emerging opportunities. The discussions provided valuable insights into global and regional trends while further strengthening Commercial Bank’s international network and strategic relationships with key partners.

The delegation also attended the ‘Qatari Banks Joint Reception’ hosted by Qatar Central Bank Governor His Excellency Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud al-Thani, the Minister of Finance His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Thailand Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al-Sada.

Bringing together chairpersons and senior executives of participating Qatari banks, the reception provided a valuable platform to deepen relationships, exchange perspectives on market trends, investment priorities, and the evolving global risk landscape, while fostering collaboration and strengthening ties across the Qatari banking sector.

Moss said, “The IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings offer a valuable opportunity to engage with leaders and peers from across the international financial community, and we are pleased to be part of a strong Qatari presence in Bangkok this year. For Commercial Bank, these meetings are an important forum to listen to, and exchange views with institutions from around the world.

“They provide useful insight into the global economic outlook and the issues shaping international financial markets. We bring these insights back to Qatar as we continue to build our international relationships and support the Bank's long-term growth and strategic direction.”
