Qatari designers at the ongoing Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) 2026 have attracted visitors’ attention with their innovative and distinctive designs inspired by several elements of the Qatari heritage and culture.
The dedicated pavilion for Qatari designers at DJWE has continued to captivate the visitors of different nationalities and in particular Qatari and GCC visitors, who expressed their admiration for the high level of craftsmanship and artistic creativity that blends modernity and innovation with traditional elements.
The pavilion is supported by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) Scale 7, which supports creative projects such as digital product design and crafts, fashion technology and jewellery among others through various programmes that cover training, financing and technical support.
Aline Dambricourt, co-founder of AtrAIGem, which offers a new AI programme where customers can know the ring sizes digitally without the need to use physical equipment, stressed that Qatari designers are displaying a very sophisticated level of innovation and originality that easily captivate even the elite customers. She note that DJWE is an excellent opportunity for empowering women designers and let them further enhance their creativity and reach out.
Qatari designer Shiekha bint Mohamed, owner of Alghla Jewellery, said that for this edition of DJWE she displays three unique designs of hers inspired by Qatari motives one of them inspired by Qatar Vision 2030, where the roots signify the deeply rooted Qatari spirit and traditions and going up to embrace modernity and innovation. Other themes that inspired her creation include traditional Qatari costumes, pearls and precious stones. She note that the new designs have been appealing to most visitors and in particular Qatari and GCC visitors. She also said that this year, with a dedicated pavilion for Qatari designers, make it easy for customers to find them.
Qatari designer Kaltham al-Majid, Kaltham’s Jewellery, stressed that her designs blend modernity with tradition and focus on simplicity and elegance that appeal to the young people while maintaining the beauty of diamond and precious stones. She stressed that local nature is among her main sources of inspiration. Her shop also offers custom made designs such as written names in exquisite Arabic calligraphy. She believes that what makes a design stand out its originality, blend of local nature and modern approach.
Qatari designer Jawaher al-Mannai, co-owner of Ghand Jewellery, displays her first of its kind collection called Qumriya Collection (inspired by local doves). For this first time in jewellery design she incorporates real feathers from a dove, with permission from the concerted entity to enhance the local wildlife sustainability. Further, she displays other unique collections inspired by various traditional and heritage objects while maintaining the necessary modern touch.
Qatari designer Samira al-Mulla, Hessa Jewels, stressed that DJWE has established itself as one of the best in its category, while giving ample room for Qatari designers to display their skill, creativity and innovation and establish valuable business contacts to enhance their work.
Qatari designer Hamad al-Mahmoud noted that his design focus on traditional geometric shapes blended with modern touch, with some of the inspired from the gypsum decorative motive in the traditional house. He said that he maintains simple designs that incorporate the local and old heritage with modern trends that appeal to young people.
