The State of Qatar participated in the High-level Meeting to Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
HE Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.
During the meeting, Her Excellency reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s full support for the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, as well as its commitment to promoting human rights, equality, and nondiscrimination, and to strengthening the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for cultural diversity.
Her Excellency also affirmed that Qatar would continue its national and international efforts to combat discrimination and promote inclusion and community participation. She highlighted key related initiatives and legislation, as well as Qatar’s hosting of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha in 2025 and its contribution to international efforts to address inequalities and exclusion and strengthen social protection.
Her Excellency further reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to continuing its support for international efforts aimed at the full and effective implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.
