A total 50 of the country's sharpest young minds will collide at the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum "3-2-1" for the third edition of the U-16 Blitz Chess Championship.

Organized by the Qatar Chess Association (QCA) in partnership with the museum, the high-stakes tournament will see junior contenders battle through five grueling rounds of Swiss-system blitz chess, where split-second decisions and tactical precision will decide the podium.

QCA Executive Director Hamad al-Tamimi highlighted the diverse, packed field, emphasizing that the event serves a dual purpose: embedding chess deeper into the community culture while scouting the next wave of elite talent.

"These tournaments aim to build a generation of players to supply our national teams," al-Tamimi noted, stressing the vital role of grassroots talent identification.
