The Qatar Music Academy (QMA), a member of Qatar Foundation, is reinforcing its role as a leading platform for developing musical talent and nurturing artistic expression among young people. The academy continues to offer a diverse range of music programmes and courses covering various instruments, vocal training and performing arts, providing students with a specialised learning environment under the guidance of experienced and professional instructors.
Its programmes give students the opportunity to learn a wide selection of musical instruments, alongside singing and choral training. The approach enables each student to develop their abilities according to their interests and potential, while establishing a strong musical foundation and building technical and performance skills from the earliest stages of learning.
Violinist and music professor Fathi Bayoud highlighted the academy’s contribution to developing the next generation of musicians. “The academy plays a pivotal role in nurturing young talent and attracting young people to music. One of its key strengths is the diversity of its specialisations and the wide range of instruments it offers, enabling young musicians to receive practical training while developing their artistic sensibility. This multidisciplinary approach prepares them for further academic study, while also opening opportunities to join musical ensembles and national orchestras. In this field, ambition is essential.”
Among the academy’s areas of specialisation is instruction in the qanun, a traditional Middle Eastern string instrument. Lessons are designed not only to develop students’ musical abilities but also to strengthen creativity, concentration and self-confidence. The academy’s Western music department provides a comprehensive learning experience, while guitar instruction receives particular attention, helping students develop technical proficiency and a deeper understanding of musical concepts.
Beyond individual instrument training, the academy’s choir programme introduces students to the importance of collaboration and collective performance. Working as part of an ensemble enables young musicians to develop listening skills, discipline and an appreciation of the role each performer plays in creating a unified musical experience.
