Qatar SC are continuing their preparations for the new season following a productive training camp in Murcia, Spain, which started on July 15 and ended on July 31. It was part of the team’s preparatory programme for the new season that will also see them in action in Gulf competition.
The team underwent training sessions in the Spanish city focusing on tactical, technical and physical aspects, and also integration of new players into the squad under the coaching staff led by Marquez Lopez.
During the camp, Qatar SC played four friendly matches. They beat Futbol Jobs side 5-0 and drew with Johor FC of Malaysia 2-2 and Spanish side Club Costa City 0-0. The Kings, however, lost to another Spanish club UCAM Murcia 0-3. The warm-up matches helped the Qatari side fine-tune their match readiness ahead of a long and challenging season.
The last seasn's Qatar Stars League saw Qatar SC finish in sixth place with 32 points (nine wins, five draws and eight losses). They scored 34 goals and conceded 32. Brazilian striker Joao Pedro top-scored for them with 15 goals the same as Akram Afif of Al Sadd to be the second-best scorers after Al Rayyan’s Roger Guedes (21 goals).
Qatar SC have bolstered their squad by signing players Brazilian Bruno Tabata, Spaniards Pau Prim and Albert Luque, and Abdullah Al Marafi. They will join the existing core group as they aim for a strong showing in all competitions.
Qatar SC will kick off their Qatar Stars League campaign against Al Wakrah at Lusail Stadium on August 20. They are also gearing up for Gulf Clubs Champions League with aspirations to achieve positive results.
Prats targets another strong season with Al Shamal
Al Shamal coach David Prats says the club is determined to build on last season's success and achieve the best possible results when the new Qatar Bank Stars League season kicks off on August 20.
Speaking Sunday, the Spaniard said preparations were progressing well during the team's pre-season training camp in the Netherlands.
Prats acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead, particularly with Al Shamal set to make their historic debut in the AFC Champions League alongside their domestic commitments.
"Our focus is on reaching the required technical and physical level before the league begins, especially after the arrival of several new players," he said.
Reflecting on last season, when Al Shamal finished runners-up in the league, Prats said repeating that success would not be easy.
"We had an exceptional season and achieved outstanding results, but the new season will be more difficult," he said.
"The coming season will be full of challenges, especially as we will be competing in the AFC Champions League for the first time in our history, in addition to the Qatari league. We will do our best in both competitions."
Prats added that balancing domestic and continental commitments would require careful planning, particularly with a demanding fixture schedule, but stressed that managing such challenges is part of modern football.
