Papawis QLAB celebrated the growing popularity of pickleball in Qatar by hosting its Ladies Night Pickleball Doubles Tournament in Doha, bringing together 32 female players in a one-day event that promoted fitness, inclusivity and community engagement.
The tournament featured 16 teams competing in the Beginners and Novice categories, providing women of different backgrounds and skill levels with an opportunity to experience one of the world’s fastest-growing sports in a welcoming and supportive environment.Organisers said the event was designed not only to encourage participation in sport but also to inspire healthier lifestyles, strengthen community ties and introduce more residents in Qatar to pickleball.
Founded on the belief that sport can unite people, promote wellness and build lasting friendships, Papawis QLAB continues to organise activities that encourage people to learn, compete and grow together.Apart from the competition, organisers said the tournament sought to promote physical fitness and active living, encourage greater participation of women in sport, foster friendship, teamwork and sportsmanship, strengthen the Filipino community while welcoming participants from different nationalities, and expand awareness of pickleball across Qatar.
The event featured a series of closely contested matches, with participants displaying determination, respect and camaraderie throughout the competition. Organisers described the tournament as a celebration of sportsmanship and friendship, supported by enthusiastic volunteers, sponsors and members of the community.“At Papawis QLAB, our mission goes beyond organising tournaments.

He also thanked the players, volunteers, sponsors and supporters whose contributions helped make the tournament a success, adding that Papawis QLAB plans to organise more sporting events that encourage participation, wellness and unity within Qatar’s diverse community.With pickleball continuing to attract new players worldwide, Mondidu said community-led initiatives such as the Ladies Night tournament are helping expand the sport’s reach in Qatar while providing more opportunities for women to participate in recreational and competitive sport.
