The Arab League warned of the grave danger posed by Iran's criminal and reckless attacks against a number of Arab states, particularly in the Gulf region.
In a statement Saturday, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy described the attacks as an attempt to widen the scope of the conflict and drive the region towards greater instability and insecurity.
The secretary-general expressed the League's unequivocal rejection of this unjustified Iranian aggression, noting that the escalating pattern of Iran's blatant and reprehensible attacks against Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Kuwait, which have targeted critical infrastructure and vital facilities, as well as its repeated attacks on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, reflects an aggressive course of conduct that cannot be tolerated or accepted.
These actions demonstrate Tehran's continued reliance on policies founded on grave miscalculations and a flawed reading of regional realities, while constituting a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Arab states, international law, and the principles of good neighbourliness, Fahmy stressed.
He emphasised that any attack against an Arab state constitutes an attack on Arab national security and the collective interests of the Arab nation.
The Arab League secretary-general urged Iran to de-escalate immediately, cease its attacks without delay, refrain from fuelling tensions, spreading instability, and threatening maritime security through its proxies in the region, and to return to the path of negotiations in full compliance with its international obligations and international law.
Fahmy reaffirmed the League's full solidarity with the Arab states concerned and its unwavering support for them in confronting the serious challenges threatening their sovereignty, interests, and Arab national security.
He also asserted the League's support for all measures taken by Arab states to safeguard their security and stability.
