Qatar, “the Home of LNG,” will be taking the global spotlight as QatarEnergy is set to host the ‘21st International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas’ (LNG2026) from February 2 to 5, at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and is expected to gather industry experts, policymakers, and innovators from more than 80 countries to “the world’s most prestigious LNG event.” Under the theme ‘Leading LNG: Powering Today and Tomorrow’, LNG2026 will highlight market trends, breakthrough technologies, and innovations shaping a sector that remains essential for global energy security and a cornerstone of the energy transition.
The Minister of State for Energy Affairs His Excellency Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, who is also the president and CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “Qatar is proud to host the 21st International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas for the second time in this event’s history.
It is our honour to welcome the international energy community for a meaningful conversation on the vital role and future of this reliable and affordable source of energy. “The responsible development of Qatar’s natural gas reserves, coupled with enduring partnerships and strategic investments, has positioned QatarEnergy as a major global LNG player and helped establish LNG as the cornerstone of growth and the primary vehicle for achieving fair and equitable access to cleaner energy.”
According to the LNG2026 website, the event presents unique opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and securing high-value deals that advance the LNG business. “With a comprehensive focus on the entire LNG value chain, from production and transportation to market delivery, attendees will participate in insightful discussions about the latest industry developments, emerging technologies, and market trends,” it stated.
It also stated, “Continuing the esteemed LNG Conference Series, which has been a cornerstone of the international LNG sector for over 56 years, LNG2026 invites [participants] to be part of a transformative gathering where the future of the LNG market is defined, key partnerships are established, and abundant opportunities arise.”
The LNG2026 Conference Programme features dynamic plenary sessions, engaging spotlight sessions, and a comprehensive technical programme across dedicated rooms and the exhibition floor.
With numerous sessions and a diverse lineup of expert speakers, attendees can explore cutting-edge topics and innovations in the LNG sector, facilitated by industry leaders, the conference website stated.
On the first day of the conference, Minister al-Kaabi will participate in the opening plenary panel titled ‘Global LNG Dynamics: An Industry Perspective’, moderated by Michael Stoppard, principal, Stoppard Energy.
During the discussion, al-Kaabi will be joined by fellow panellists Ryan Lance, chairman and CEO, ConocoPhillips; Claudio Descalzi, CEO, Eni; Darren Woods, chairman and CEO, ExxonMobil; Wael Sawan, CEO, Shell; and Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO, TotalEnergies SE.
