His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued Sunday the Amiri Decision No. 1 of 2026, appointing Faisal Abdullah Hamad Abdullah al-Hanzab as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Turkiye.
The decision is effective starting from its date of issue and is to be published in the official gazette. Prior to this appointment, he served as Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (notably engaging in high-level discussions on Afghanistan, counter-terrorism, and regional security), ambassador to Azerbaijan (2019–2023), and held key multilateral roles including postings at Qatar's Permanent Delegations to the United Nations in New York and Geneva.
His earlier career featured directorship of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consular positions in the United States, and service in protocol and international organisations departments since joining the ministry in 1994.
