South Africa’s Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has affirmed Qatar's pivotal role in combating corruption both through hosting the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP11) and through its use of technology in fighting crime and corruption.
She commended the existing level of co-operation and the excellent bilateral relations between Qatar and South Africa for many years.
In remarks to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the COSP11, Kubayi thanked Qatar for the warm welcome and excellent organisation, saying that it reflects Qatar's deep commitment to promoting integrity and transparency at the international level and its leading role in combating corruption.
Highlighting the COSP11's in-depth discussions and positive outcomes, particularly regarding proposals aimed at reviewing conventions and strengthening the capacity of states to confront corruption globally, she stated that launching new tools to support countries, particularly those experiencing conflicts, to combat corruption within conflict zones is a crucial step.
Kubayi noted that addressing illicit financial flows, from an African perspective, aligns with the goals of Agenda 2063 and contributes to supporting development and stability efforts.
