The Palestinian presidency welcomed the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that leads to a permanent and sustainable ceasefire.
The presidency called for its immediate implementation to preserve the lives of innocent Palestinians.
The UNSC should ensure the implementation of this important resolution, which has received international consensus, the Presidency said in a statement yesterday.
The statement praised the positions of the countries that submitted and supported this resolution which falls in line with international law and reflects the international consensus calling for an end to the aggression and the genocidal war waged by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people.
This resolution is a step in the right direction towards a total halt to the aggression, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, stopping the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation authorities and settlers in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and initiating a political process based on international legitimacy and international law to end the occupation and embody the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The presidency additionally called on the international community to provide relief to the Palestinian people, to immediately deliver humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip through all crossings and to halt the famine faced by our people in Gaza as a result of the ongoing bloody aggression.
