The State of Qatar called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council (UNSC), to overcome the state of inability and double standard, and to take all necessary measures to end the war in Gaza and stop its horrific humanitarian repercussions; end the Israeli occupation; and to protect the Palestinians and ensure that they enjoy all their legitimate rights, establishing their independent, sovereign state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, and holding accountable all those responsible for the violations and crimes committed against them.

This came in the statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, during the interactive dialogue on the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on "Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the obligation to ensure accountability and justice" within the 55th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Her Excellency indicated that the international community had warned of the dangerous consequences of any ground invasion in Rafah, and of the consequences of continuing to ignore these calls, saying that the State of Qatar, after reviewing the report of the High Commissioner, strongly denounces the continued prevention of the entry of High Commission employees into the occupied Palestinian territories.

She explained that this confirms the Israeli authorities' intention to hide information and falsify the facts about the grave violations; illegal apartheid settlement policies: the crimes they have been committing against the Palestinian people for over 75 years, most recent of which is the aggression and genocide in Gaza: and the policy of starvation and collective punishment; depriving civilians of basic necessities for a decent life; indiscriminate use of disproportionate lethal force; deliberate destruction of civilian facilities; targeting civilians and humanitarian relief and United Nations personnel; killing journalists; arbitrary detention and torture of Palestinian detainees and prisoners, including children and women; and the forced displacement of Gaza population, in defiance and blatant violation of all relevant international agreements and laws.
