The General Directorate of Endowments of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs will give scholarships to 20 specially abled students at Al-Tamakon Comprehensive School.
The initiative is implemented with the support from the Waqf Bank for Scientific and Cultural Development and the Waqf Bank for Health Care while upholding Awqaf’s slogan ‘endowment is a community partnership’.
The announcement came yesterday from the director general of the General Administration of Endowments at Awqaf Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohamed bin Ghanem al-Thani during the press conference held at the headquarters of the administration.
Al-Thani hailed the close relationship between the two sides due to the distinguished services the school provides.
“Societies are based on empowering all their segments, by providing them with a suitable environment, which creates opportunities for creativity and creates an atmosphere for them to grow. The administration is keen to achieve a better environment for specially abled people with Awqaf’s partners,” he said. Dr Hind al-Rabah, General Consultant and Supervisor for Development and Education, expressed his gratitude to Awqaf and the endowers.
“We witness the direct and practical effects of these endowments,” he said, urging the philanthropists to establish more endowments through which students with disabilities can be supported.
