In co-operation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) organised a seminar on environmental sustainability in the fields of charitable and volunteer work.
The seminar saw the participation of the director of the Green Development and Environmental Sustainability Department at the MOECC Dr Saud bin Khalifa al-Thani, Director of Relief and International Development Division at Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, environmental expert in the Green Development and Environmental Sustainability Department at the MOECC Dr Abdallah al-Tamimi, and development projects expert at the RACA Hussam Abdullah al-Tarawneh.
During the symposium moderated by communications and public relations expert at the RACA Ahmed Saleh al-Ali, Dr Saud bin Khalifa al-Thani pointed out Qatar's commitment to global efforts to confront climate change, and the integration between environmental sustainability and charitable initiatives in the country, which contributes to achieving a tangible impact on society.
During his speech at the seminar, he stressed the importance of integrating the principles of environmental sustainability into the charitable sector's strategies and projects, applying the environmental sustainability strategy in various charitable projects, and facing challenges related to financing and awareness to ensure the implementation of those strategies in an effective manner that contributes to protecting the environment and achieving sustainability.
Director of Relief and International Development Division at QRCS, Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, reviewed the QRCS's strategy (2021—2024), which focused on climate change as one of its axes, pointing to the success of the environmental sustainability practices that the QRCS applied in many of its projects.
He indicated that the QRCS takes into account climate change and environmental sustainability standards in the projects it implements. He highlighted the essential roles of QRCS volunteers and their efforts in protecting the Qatari environment through participation in beach cleaning, community awareness, and environmental activities that are being implemented in cooperation with many parties.
