The Doha Metro and Lusail Tram Wednesday announced alternative bus routes on August 18 as the Red Line will undergo temporary service adjustments.
The Red Line, a vital transportation route spanning 40km from Al Wakra in the south to Lusail in the north, caters to thousands of daily travellers, connecting key locations such as Hamad International Airport (HIA), City Center, and prominent stations in between.
The following alternative bus routes have been introduced for Red Line commuters:
  • Route 1: This one-way route stretches from Al Wakra to Lusail QNB, providing a seamless connection between the southern and northern ends of the Red Line.
  • Route 2: Offering a complementary route to Route 1, this one-way option takes passengers from Lusail QNB to Al Wakra, facilitating hassle-free travel in the opposite direction.
  • Route 3: A convenient shuttle service will be established between the Free Zone and HIA.
The announcement said that buses running on these alternative routes will not make stops at Ras Bu Fontas and Katara stations. Buses will be available every five minutes for routes 1, 2, and 3.
Commuters can expect continued operations of the Green and Gold lines of the Doha Metro, which remain unaffected by the service adjustments on the Red Line.
The Green Line recently underwent maintenance on August 9, resulting in the temporary deployment of replacement buses on select routes.
