Despite the searing summer temperatures continue to blanket Qatar, residents are in for a treat with a plethora of exciting events and activities designed to keep them engaged throughout the season.
A unique eSports tournament kicking off the summer festivities is AAMeghessib's Back-2-Back, a groundbreaking eSports tournament set to take place from August 18 to September 15 at various locations across Qatar, according to Visit Qatar.
Focused on the popular FIFA 23 game on PlayStation 5, organisers said this unique tournament breaks away from the traditional format, allowing teams of two players to compete in an 11v11 Kick Off Mode. The innovative twist here is that teams must score two consecutive goals to secure victory.
The tournament, organisers noted, is set to take place at several iconic venues: Qualifiers 1 and 2 at Chevrolet Showroom – Jaidah Automotive on August 18 and 19; Qualifiers 3 and 4 at Store 974 – Place Vendome on August 25 and 26; Qualifiers 5 and 6 at Novo Cinemas – Mall of Qatar on September 1 and 2; Qualifiers 7 and 8 at Virtuocity Qatar, Gaming Theme Park – Doha Festival City on September 8 and 9; and the National Final at Geekdom – Lusail Boulevard on September 15.
This tournament offers players a chance to exhibit their skills, strategy, and teamwork, fostering an environment of healthy competition and camaraderie. AAMeghessib's Back-2-Back is not affiliated with or sponsored by Electronic Arts Inc or its licensors, stressing its player-centric origins.
Prior to this tournament, Qatar residents and visitors will have the chance to see the gravity-defying thrills at Trampoline Wall Show, set to take place at Mall of Qatar (MoQ) from August 17 to 26, with daily performances at 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm.
Running until September 10, Zwara's Focus on Forever Valentino Exhibition at M7 Msheireb is for those who seek a dose of creativity and design inspiration. The Zwara programme encourages designers to explore existing exhibitions, archives, and collections and respond to design briefs.
The exhibition is hosted at M7's first floor, Creative Learning Space, and it explores the intersections between fashion and other design disciplines like art, architecture, and technology.
Qatar-based designers collaborating through the Zwara programme have created a diverse array of designs that reflect the creative landscape of Qatar, taking cues from the Maison Valentino's legacy and values.
Another captivating event is set to take place at the Hamilton International School on August 18, dubbed ‘CrewQ Send-Off Show 2023’, featuring premieres of competition pieces and summer camp student performances.
The show, a collaboration between MFEC Street Dance and Hamilton International School, offers captivating performances – set to the backdrop of top music hits in genres like RnB, Pop and Hip Hop – curated by renowned choreographers Rudy Hernandez Jr and Gerald Hernandez.
Families looking to engage their children's curiosity are invited to the National Museum of Qatar on August 19 for a Family Exploration Journey. Guided tours in both English and Arabic will take young participants on an interactive adventure through the museum galleries and family exhibits.
The tour encourages children aged 6-9, accompanied by their families, to enhance their understanding of Qatar's environment, heritage, and culture while honing their problem-solving skills. Registration is required, and the event promises to be an educational and enjoyable experience for all.
