Work is nearing completion at Al Bidda Park where preparations are in full swing for Expo 2023 Doha, which is scheduled to begin in October.
A recent report by local Arabic daily Arrayah said that the agency in charge of putting together the infrastructure for the event has completed major works at the site.
At the same time, work is progressing fast to complete the remaining parts.
Among the highlights of the infrastructure is the Expo House, which will be Expo 2023 Doha’s unique legacy building.
The hill-shaped building is covered with green vegetation and harmonises with the landscape.
The Expo House is shaped like a semicircle, with a vast open space in front and a fountain as a centrepiece.
The benches along the sides of the pavilion form a natural amphitheatre, offering stunning views and a perfect spot for the expo’s events and gatherings.
The site is designed in a manner that will help visitors enjoy the accompanying activities. The 1.7mn sqm venue is divided into three zones – International Zone, Family Zone and Cultural Zone.
The venue will have dedicated zones for modern agriculture, technology and innovation, environmental awareness and sustainability.
The pavilions will highlight the theme 'Green Desert, Better Environment', while encouraging sustainable innovation and reducing desertification.
Under the auspices of the BIE (Bureau Internationale Des Expositions) and the AIPH (International Association for Horticultural Producers), the expo is being organised by the Ministry of Municipality in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 to achieve environmental management and sustainable development in Qatar.
Expo Doha 2023 will feature ornamental gardens and host discussions, conferences and live shows along with art and culinary performances.
The six-month long Expo 2023 Doha is expected to be attended by as many as 3mn visitors from across the world who will be exploring the latest innovations and techniques in agriculture and sustainability.
Some 80 countries will set up pavilions at the event, which will run from October 2 to March 28, 2024.
Expo 2023 Doha is described as the first A1 International Horticultural Exhibition to be held in Qatar and the Mena (Middle East and North Africa) region.
The event will have international visitors and organisers along with the experts from national and international industries, government entities and officials. Non-governmental organisations and commercial affiliates will also be a part of the exhibition.
