In Collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Higher Education (MoEHE), the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has launched an awareness campaign for school students, teachers and parents.

The NCSA's National Cyber Excellence Department is conducting the campaign in collaboration with the MoEHE's Department of E-learning and Digital solutions, targeting 30 government schools which include 3,000 students, teachers and parents.

Through this campaign, the NCSA aims to educate students about cyber risks, raise their level of awareness and highlight the most prominent practices that help protect the educational sector and the student community from cyber risks, which in return will contribute to enhancing the values of digital citizenship.

National Cyber Excellence Department manager Dalal al-Aqeedi said that the project comes within the agency’s framework to enhance cyber awareness and its vision to build a secure cyber society, where all segments are aware of the challenges that accompany the rapid technological revolution.

"The agency’s full belief that enhancing cyber-security in the local community is at the core of the collaboration between educational and security entities to strengthen cyber awareness and protect students in various age groups from cyber threats,” he said.

"Our partnership with the MoEHE has resulted in launching a cyber-security curricula project, a first in the region in terms of targeting students in the school environment and customised to each age group with content commensurate with their level of awareness,” al-Aqeedi added. “(This is) in addition to addressing students with special needs, parallel education and education of elderly to ensure the dissemination of cyber awareness in the entire educational community.”

"The cyber education curricula, presented in a smooth and enjoyable way, includes a range of educational tools, like visual products, awareness videos, posters and infographics, in addition to a guide booklet for teachers and parents,” he continued.

"In alignment with the cyber education curricula project, another pioneering initiative, Cyber Eco, has been launched to enhance awareness of the concepts and values of cyber safety through extra-curricular activities within the school environment, including field visits to public and private schools, workshops and competitions,” al-Aqeedi said.

To complement the cyber-security curricula project, the NCSA has launched a website that includes videos, animations, and brochures.

The campaign will continue until the end of the current semester, May 2023, in a number of preparatory and secondary schools.
