Around 4,000 homeless families have been residing in makeshift tents at Portal del Morumbi, one of the richest areas in Sao Paulo, since June 20. The protesters are supported by the Homeless Workers Movement (MTST), one of the most active in Brazil. MTST has intensified its protests in Sao Paulo after having agreed to a truce with the government during the FIFA World Cup 2014.
