Al Mana Malls is planning to launch several innovative campaigns amid the growing importance of shopping and entertainment centres in the family-oriented lifestyle of Qatar, a senior official of the company has said.
“One of these is along the lines of a fashion campaign that focuses on personal styling and the latest trends with a technological edge,” said Rony Mourani, general manager of Al Mana Malls, the company that operates Mirqab Mall, Al Nasr.
It is also the operator for the upcoming Doha Mall in Abu Hamour.
Mourani was speaking on the sidelines of the Eid al-Adha celebrations taking place at malls in Qatar, including Mirqab Mall, which have been attracting a large number of residents and visitors since Tuesday.
Mourani told Gulf Times that one of Mirqab Mall’s strongest elements is the variety of dining and cuisine offerings – a reason to come up with “a campaign that celebrates this diversity”.
“Today, shopping centres are in the out-of-home entertainment and dining business as much as they are in the retail goods business, and this is especially true during the festive seasons,” he stressed.
Citing Doha Mall’s opening next year, Mourani added: “Our expansion into the market marks a new frontier for Al Mana Group as we continue to grow, and we could not do so without incredible partners such as Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).”
Delighted to be part of the Qatar Summer Festival 2018, he also disclosed that Al Mana  benefited from the sales and promotions as reflected among Mirqab’s retailers during the Shop Qatar period.
Shop Qatar, dubbed as the country’s biggest shopping festival, forms part of QTA’s strategy to grow and diversify the country’s tourism offering, particularly in the area of family and urban entertainment.
Its first edition contributed QR1.06bn to the local economy and recorded a 70.5% hotel occupancy rate during the festival.
“The Shop Qatar campaign highlights QTA’s focus in its ongoing message of welcoming the world to easily discover Qatar’s myriad activities, cultural heritage and natural wonders, in which Mirqab Mall certainly plays a part,” Mourani pointed out.
He said the mall and its wide range of offerings have received positive response from the public, witnessing "steady and double-digit month-on-month growth in footfall" since its opening in October 2017, with a majority of customers making repeat visits.
