HEC Paris in Qatar has launched the revamped Specialised Master’s in Strategic Business Unit Management (SBUM) programme, a senior official told Gulf Times.

“There is a core curriculum, professional thesis writing and the flexibility to customise one’s learning journey by following one of three tracks to participants’ career aspirations: General Management, Marketing & Sales or Human Resources Management,” explained Dr Wolfgang Amann, affiliate professor, HEC Paris and academic director, SBUM and custom programmes, at HEC Paris in Qatar.
“The core curriculum of the programme gives participants a unique opportunity to learn global best and next practices. Each learning journey is thereby individualised by discussing the results of psychometric tests or personal learning styles. Participants will also benefit from valuable interaction with HEC Paris faculty. The three tracks allow leaders and managers in Qatar to satisfy their learning needs even better than before,” explained Dr Amann.
“Another advantage is that the programme offers these specialisations as stand-alone executive certificates. They can be taken separately from the degree programme. However, should the eager learner then decide to continue their executive education studies, all earned credits can be fully transferred to the degree programme. Continuing one’s studies then also has the benefit of reduced course fees,” continued Dr Amann.
According to the official, the General Management Track will help participants gain knowledge and experience from the perspective of a general manager. Marketing & Sales will give the skills to master current trends and develop innovative sales and marketing solutions and Human Resources Management will educate them on how to design, develop and implement HR best practices.
“The three tracks complement each other in many ways. They allow the participants to gain in-depth insight into different facets of business management that will facilitate their all-round capabilities while focusing on the element for their career path. All three tracks have leadership and management modules incorporated which enables participants to extensively develop their leadership acumen,” he noted.
“We have updated the curriculum to better prepare graduates for markets becoming more challenging and technologies evolving fundamentally by introducing a social media oriented marketing module. We also felt that HR needs to be better understood in light of more diversity topic and next generation Qatarisation strategies. What has not changed is the clear focus on the holistic education,” highlighted Dr Amann.
“What we also fully maintain is our focus on sustainability throughout the programme. We endow our graduates with everything we can to design and carry out sustainable solutions. With the new tracks and programme revamp, we update our approaches on how to achieve this,” added the official.
