Dr Ken Macleod, President of the College of North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q), was honoured at the 14th graduation ceremony yesterday for his great contribution to the institution.
Dr Macleod who served CNA-Q for the last eight years, will retire and return to Canada shortly. He was appointed president in August 2010.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, who is also CNA-Q’s Board of Trustees chair, presented a memento to Dr Macleod. Qatar Petrochemical Company managing director and CEO and CNA-Q’s Board of Trustees vice chair Dr Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla highlighted the contribution of Dr Macleod on the occasion.
“I know Dr Macleod at a personal and professional level during his tenure at the college. When CNA-Q was established in September 2002, the aim was to set up a leading vocational and technical college in Qatar. I can say it without a shadow of doubt that the goal has been achieved and the role of Dr Macleod has been very crucial in this achievement,” recalled Dr al-Mulla.
“Under his leadership, CNA-Q has grown to become a centre of excellence in technical and vocation education in Qatar and the region. The graduates today and the several hundreds who have already passed out from the college in the previous years, are a testimony to what Dr MacLeod has achieved during his time in the college,” highlighted Dr al-Mulla.
Dr Macleod has over 30 years experience as an educator, educational entrepreneur, and educational administrator in both private and public sectors. Before becoming the president of CNA-Q, he held positions as the president of LearnCorp International, and director of International Programmes and Partnerships at Cape Breton University, Nova Scotia, Canada.
