Birla Public School (BPS) has launched a career development centre named Disha - Directing and Inspiring Students Holistic Advancement.
The centre, in association with India-based career counselling organisation Admizzionz Campuz, will provide a series of initiatives covering information dissemination, training and individualised counselling to parents and students of the school from classes IX to XII.
The details of the programme were announced yesterday at a press meeting attended by A P Sharma, principal of the school; Pradeep Narayanan, managing director, Admizzionz Campuz; Shirley Rappai, senior vice-principal, BPS; and Radhika Rele, vice-principal in charge of the career development centre.
“Disha aims to assess students’ career interests  and guide them on choosing career options that are aligned with their interests. It will help them choose the subject streams and combinations for classes XI and XII and will provide an overview of the career options from 2025 onwards,” said Sharma. “The programme involves, students, parents and teachers. Right from class IX, the students will be assessed according to their tastes and talents and will be guided to higher education choices according to their abilities. This will help the students identify their graduate level options,” added Sharma.
“Our role is to provide  information dissemination, training and individualised counselling to the students of class IX and onwards as well as their parents. The students also will be provided alerts on admissions to various universities and the criteria for admission to such universities. This will help them be prepared to face any challenges during the school days and opt for the right programme for their university studies,” Narayanan said.
