Talks are ongoing between Qatar Post and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) to help enhance the growth of entrepreneurship and the small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector in the country using advancements in digital technology.
“We are in discussions with QDB to incentivise and help Qatar’s entrepreneurs and SMEs accelerate growth of their businesses through e-Commerce,” Qatar Post chairman Faleh Mohamed al-Naemi said on the sidelines of the ‘e-Commerce
Forum Qatar 2018’ held yesterday.
The forum, which was opened by HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti in the presence of Qatar Central Bank Governor HE Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud al-Thani and other dignitaries, gathered high-calibre speakers and more than 20 leading e-Commerce players in the country.
“Qatar Post’s core business is to deliver from point A to B and to point C. We have a number of products that help e-Commerce players operate in this field and facilitate growth in this sector.
“We have partnered with many companies in this sector and we have been able to satisfy their requirements regardless of the design of the services they require,” he said.
According to al-Naemi, Qatar Post makes around 12mn transactions per year, of which, 30% to 40% are related to delivery services. “We have rolled out a number of post offices and kiosks or mini post offices, in partnership with Al Meera as part of the company’s expansion
initiatives,” he added.
