In e-mails sent to Culture Pass members, QM said the tours will run every month for up to 50 participants (first come first served) throughout the year.
After the successful tour to Al Zubarah, a Unesco World Heritage site, on December 2, QM is organising another one on December 9 from 10am to 12noon.
This popular tourism destination features a fort, an archaeological site, a fortified compound, a palatial compound and the City Wall, as well as the visitor centre and the temporary exhibition.
QM said that transportation will be available at the Museum of Islamic Art car park at 8am and buses will leave at 8.15am sharp.
Culture Pass members are advised to register online (QM website) for the tour and once approved, they may also drive to Al Zubarah directly to meet at the location at 10am for the walking tour of the archaeological site.
QM also launched a series of engaging and educational cultural activities at Al Zubarah, giving participants an opportunity hands on experience with traditional practices.
“Al Zubarah is Qatar’s largest heritage site and is one of the best-preserved examples of an 18th century merchant town in the Gulf region, giving rise to the varied cultural workshops that will be open to the public,” QM noted.
The artistic workshops, which will run every Friday and Saturday for four months, aims to educate the local community about the traditional crafts and materials that played a significant role in the country’s history.
Such endeavour will also help participants appreciate their ancestors’ skills, wisdom and heritage.
Apart from Al Zubarah, QM is also organising a second tour to the Hamad International Airport (HIA) on December 27 after the fully-booked visit on November 28.
The tour to Qatar’s five-star and award-winning airport will feature artworks and public art pieces by local, regional and international artists “both Landside and Airside.”
In partnership with HIA, QM said these series of exclusive guided tours of iconic artworks by renowned artists displayed at the airport form part of Qatar’s efforts to build a strong tourism and cultural landscape.
