The Made in China 2017 exhibition was inaugurated by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada yesterday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
More than 80 Chinese companies representing different economic and trade sectors are participating in the four-day exhibition, being held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani. It will run until November 19.
Chinese ambassador Li Chen, Qatar Chamber officials, dignitaries and other guests attended the opening of the exhibition.
“The exhibition offers huge opportunities for discussions, partnerships and sharing of expertise between businesses from Qatar and China,” Qatar Chamber director general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi said in a statement, as he praised the wide turnout of Qatari and Chinese businessmen at the event.
He stressed that ‘Made in China’ aims to promote co-operation between business owners from both countries, providing a good opportunity to showcase latest Chinese innovations.
The exhibition, al-Sharqi added, will also witness sharing of experiences and creating business deals between companies from the two countries.
He said the exhibition has attracted a wide range of Chinese companies that are keen on displaying their products in the local market despite the ongoing unjust siege imposed in Qatar.
Qatar Chamber discussed with some Chinese companies for the establishment of joint alliances, which will contribute to the country’s development through the transfer of technology.
“Many Chinese companies are keen to promote and market their products here through this exhibition, which brings together Qatari and Chinese investors under one roof,” al-Sharqi said. “Made in China also enables both sides to address all issues relating to joint investment.”
In a statement issued following the inauguration of the expo, Qatar Chamber vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari pointed out that the exhibition is expected to further expand the economic and trade relations between Qatar and China.
He said the exhibition serves as an opportunity for the Qatari business community and those interested in learning more about Chinese products in the fields of building materials, decoration, solar energy, agriculture, engineering, water treatment systems and medical devices, among others.
“It is also a good opportunity to make deals and partnerships with Chinese suppliers, agents and manufacturers,” al-Kuwari added. “Each edition attracts new companies that have never been part of the industry.”
The exhibition has become a window of opportunity for the Qatari private sector to see the most prominent Chinese products in a number of sectors, according to the senior Qatar Chamber official.
He explained that holding the exhibition for third year in a row reflects the interest of the Chinese side in the Qatari market and the desire to enter into alliances with Qatari business owners, as seen in the number of participating exhibitors.
Qatar Chamber hosted a large number of Chinese trade delegations in the past three years to enhance trade relations and identify investment opportunities available in various economic sectors in both countries, he added.
Al-Kuwari called on business owners, companies, suppliers and agents to visit the three-day exhibition to get a closer look at Chinese products in a number of sectors and to seek partnerships and deals with Chinese technology in all fields of manufacturing.
