Traffic accident cases in Qatar were generally on the decline this September against the previous month's level; but Madinat Khalifa and Al Rayyan saw increasing trends, according to official statistics.
While Madinat Khalifa and Al Rayyan witnessed 18.3% and 4.8% increase in traffic accidents, North saw a 23.1% decline, Industrial Area (-20%), Dukhan (-18.2%), Airport (-10.6%), South (-10.1%) and Al Mamoura (-7.9%), said the figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
There has been more than 7% decline month-on-month in total number of traffic accidents across the country in September this year.
Qatar had seen a total of 417 accident cases in September this year, of which 71 were reported from Madinat Khalifa, 70 from Al Mamoura, 66 from Al Rayyan, 62 from South, 60 from North, 42 from Airport and 18 from Dukhan.
MDPS also said incidents of traffic violations fell 3.8% month-on-month to 99,135 in September this year. However, jumping red light signal had seen an 18.5% increase, non-renewal of driving license by 21.2%, traffic signs violation by 7.2% and radar by 1.3%.
The ministry said the total number of new vehicles registered stood at 4,140 in September, a 23.6% decline month-on-month and 22.6% fall on a yearly basis.
The total number of driving licenses issued was 6,515 in September, which were 27.7% and 12.1% decline on monthly and yearly basis respectively.
Of the 6,515 licenses, as many as 5,864 licenses went to non-Qatari males, 524 (Qatari males), 117 (non-Qatari females) and 10 (Qatari females).
There has been a substantial more than 90% plunge in licenses issued to Qatari females and 89% decline in non-Qatari females.
