The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT), inaugurated the awareness exhibition organised to mark the 36th GCC Traffic Week under the theme: "No Phone While Driving".
Opened by Director General of Traffic Maj. Gen Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani, in the presence of a host of directors and officers of MoI departments and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the four-day exhibition primarily aims to promote the awareness of all community segments, especially young individuals.
To mark this occasion, Maj. Gen Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani underscored the significance of the Gulf traffic week in engaging with all road users with the aim of increasing their awareness on the importance of safe driving.
He pointed out that the traffic week will spotlight the dangers from using mobile phone while driving, stressing that this erratic traffic behavior is one of the major causes of traffic accidents that beset traffic systems not only in the region, but in the entire world.
