The Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) will hold the Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) 2017 from October 28 to November 4 with a number of activities.

The second edition of QSW, held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, will also have the Qatar Green Building Conference on October 29 and 30.
The week-long event will feature a number of activities, including a bridge building competition, a photography competition, a beach and desert cleanup, in addition to the Qatar Green Building Conference and Qatar Sustainability Awards.
The details of the sustainability week as well as the conference were announced at a press conference held at Msheireb Museums on Sunday.
Meshal al-Shamari, director, QGBC announced the dates of the sustainability week, the conference as well as the activities during the week and introduced various sponsors of the conference.
Ali al-Kuwari, chief officer of design and delivery, Msheireb Properties, platinum sponsor of QSW; Rashed al-Nasa'a, senior sustainability consultant, Arab Engineering Bureau, QGBC conference sponsor; Mustafa Dafer Hallawa, general manager, Roots Energy & Engineering Services of Tadmur Holding, Qatar Sustainability Awards 2017 sponsor; Michael Javier, head of operations, Atelier 101, technology sponsor; Tracey Kohinga, managing director, Intelligence Qatar, knowledge sponsor; Asterios Chalkias, strategic planning director, Frame Qatar, report sponsor; and Hamad al-Hammadi, head of government relations, Vodafone Qatar, communications partner were also present at the event.
Qatar Sustainability Week is designed to actively engage Qatar’s public and private sector organisations in a wide range of sustainability-oriented activities.
The event aims to foster a culture of sustainability among residents and visitors, as well as promote engagement from members of the community.
This is in line with ultimately achieving the global sustainability goals.
Al-Shamari, said, “With less than a week to go, we are excited about the second edition of QSW and look forward to welcoming a wide range of stakeholders showcasing their activities that contribute towards our nation’s environmental protection and sustainable development goals.
This year we have a number of new initiatives as well as events to highlight the sustainability efforts.”

Representatives of various sponsoring organisations also expressed their views about the conference as well as the sustainability week and highlighted their role in various activities during the week.
