International performers took to the stage for an enthralling show, drawing hundreds of spectators, while the grand finale of Qatar’s longest running festival wrapped up with the much-anticipated draw in the evening.
A total of QR300,000 in cash prizes and a 2017 model Bentley were given away in the draw, which was hosted by Khalifa Saleh al-Haroon, Qatari entrepreneur popularly known as 'Mr Q'.
A Jordanian national was announced as the winner of the car.
The organisers also held a special entertainment programme featuring traditional shows after the draw to continuously provide mall-goers with a festive environment while shopping.
A large number of people had gathered at Mall of Qatar to watch the grand finale of the festival.
A mega raffle draw, in which cash prizes and a Bentley car were given away, was held on the occasion.
It is learnt that Qatar residents also thronged other QSF participating malls, such as Dar Al Salam, Ezdan Mall, The Gate Mall, Gulf Mall, Lagoona Mall and Landmark Mall yesterday to watch stage performances and shows organised by Qatar Tourism Authority and its partners. Families and children also enjoyed their final round of fun-filled activities, games and shows, as well as various food offerings, at the Summer Entertainment City in Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre yesterday.
Meanwhile, the hot weather failed to dampen the spirit of holiday-goers in celebrating Eid al-Adha outdoors, who visited and took part in activities at Aqua Park, Sealine Beach, Aspire Park, Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah, and Katara–the Cultural Village.
Hundreds of residents spent their Eid break at Souq Al Wakrah to dine at a variety of local and international restaurants, as well as to beat the heat in its beach area.
Apart from culinary delights, the venue has become a popular destination in Qatar for its serenity, historic value and accessibility. It also regularly hosts several events and festivals to provide visitors with an array of entertainment and cultural offerings.
At Aspire Zone, dozens of children enjoyed the paddle-boat rides at the artificial lake located at its park while remote-controlled car enthusiasts spent their time playing at a dedicated race track.
Besides taking part in these events and activities, it is learnt that several expatriate groups spent their summer and Eid breaks on road trips to visit various beaches and other locations in Qatar such as Dukhan, Al Ghariya, Sealine/Mesaieed and Al Zubarah, among others.
“We went to a number of beaches before our mall-hopping activity this Eid despite the hot weather, going from one mall to another. During the first day of Eid al-Adha, we went to Ezdan, Landmark, Gulf Mall and then to Doha Festival City,” an Asian expatriate told Gulf Times. “Our last stop was Mall of Qatar where we had our dinner.”
“This activity is also a good way to shop and exercise by doing brisk walking inside different malls in the country,” he added.
