The interactive workshops and colourful activities, as well as the “numerous beachside adventures” being offered at Doha Festival City this August have attracted throngs of residents and provide plenty of family bonding time.

Dubbed ‘Summer in the City’, the event offers families, especially children, a “unique experience” at different locations in the mall.

Children aged four to 12 years can play in Ships Ahoy, a colourful pirate-themed adventure ball pit located in Doha Festival City’s Centre Court. The ball pit is open daily until August 26, every half an hour between 3pm and 9pm. Entry is free.

Speed junkies and radio-controlled toy car lovers and enthusiasts will enjoy the Desert Dune Dash located in the mall’s Axis Node.

Families and friends can compete for free, by driving their high-speed remote control cars through various tight turns on the 'sand dunes' to the finish line. The unique car race track is open daily every half an hour between 3pm and 9pm until August 26. The activity is suitable for all ages and is free of charge.

The beach-themed Seaside Works of Art offers face painting for children, who can also decorate stones, paint shells or personalise their T-shirts. Located in the Cloud Node, the event is free of charge and held every hour between 3pm an 9pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Participating kids aged four to 12 years can also keep all of their creations.

The highlights of Seaside Works of Art in the coming weekends are as follows: Stone art from August 10 to 12, shell art from August 17 to 19, and T-shirt personalising from August 24 to 26.

For kids who love interactive play, Summertime Modelling is sure to enhance their creativity. Using sparkly ocean-coloured Play-Doh and kinetic sand, children will be able to create their own beach scene and other colourful creations.

Located in Doha Festival City’s Entertainment Node, the Summertime Modelling event is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until August 26. Kids aged four to 12 years can participate free of charge, with the event taking place every half an hour between 3pm and 9pm.

Speaking to Gulf Times recently, Abdallah, a father of two, said the variety of events offered at Doha Festival City provided “quality family time” for many parents and their children.

“Some of the outdoor activities that my family enjoys are still on hold, at least until the weather gets better. We love going to the beach, which is why the theme of these activities suits all of us,” he said.
