Entertainment shows and attractions at various Eid al-Fitr and Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) venues across the country continue to attract a large number of spectators, it is learnt.
The past four days of Eid in the country have seen visitors and residents, especially families and children, thronging the malls not only to shop but also to watch the live shows.
On Tuesday, a large crowd took part in a special celebration at Doha Festival City (DHFC) to officially open QSF. The grand parade of colourfully-dressed stilt walkers greeted mall-goers with their songs and dances.

“We wanted to do an informal (QSF) opening so that people would know that it has officially opened and for them to witness the different activities at various malls and across touristic attractions,” QTA’s festivals and tourism events director Mashal Shahbik said.
The event, she added, also aims to “send a message that QSF is happening on time”, which gives residents and visitors an opportunity to spend quality time with their families, friends, relatives and colleagues.

Like other entertainment shows at different malls, the popular Ice Age show at DHFC has been wooing hundreds of families and children since day one of Eid al-Fitr.
Apart from indoor attractions, QTA and its partners also organised several outdoor activities and shows at popular tourism and cultural destinations such as Souq Waqif, Souq Al Wakrah, Aspire Zone, The Pearl-Qatar and Katara – the Cultural Village, among others.
A number of Qatari influencers give visitors at Hamad International Airport (HIA) a warm welcome during the Eid break, particularly brothers and sisters from Kuwait and Oman.
“Eid is all about sharing greetings and gifts with your visitors and neighbours, and we are delighted to uphold the tradition once again this year by welcoming all our visitors at HIA with traditional Eidiya gifts,” Shahbik said.
This year, she stressed, that they were excited to share a special occasion with guests as Eid marks the beginning of the annual festival, which offers them numerous enticing hospitality, shopping and entertainment options.
“Whether they are here for an Eid break or as stopover visitors benefiting from the unique +Qatar package, we extend a warm welcome to all those making Qatar their destination this Eid,” Shahbik added.
The senior QTA official expressed optimism that the upcoming events and musical concerts, as well as the shopping promotions, will attract more visitors in the coming weeks.
According to QTA, the fourth International Mindsports Championship 2017 is scheduled to take place at Entertainment City at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from August 19 to 27, which will gather 1,500 mindsports enthusiasts from more than 40 countries.
Players, professionals and amateur will compete for the title and a total of $200,000 in cash prizes. Mindsports include chess, backgammon, Bridge, Go & eSports.
