More countries, than in the previous editions, are expected to participate in the third edition of the ‘International Exhibition for Decoration, Wall, Floor Covering & Lighting Technologies’ (Covertech 2017) slated from October 10 to 12 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, it was announced.
Abdulaziz bin Hamad al-Ageel, secretary-general of the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (Goic), said Covertech 2017 is a platform to exhibit the latest building materials like hardwood flooring, marble, ceramics, paints, doors, windows, carpets, curtains and roof insulation products.
Speaking to the media yesterday, al-Ageel said he hopes the event would “achieve its goal in supplying the needs of building materials sector” even as malls, hotels, and other large-scale infrastructure projects related to the FIFA World Cup are coming online.
He said Goic, which is sponsoring the event for the third consecutive year, encourages the private sector to play an active role in the economies of GCC countries, and organises initiatives aimed at “public and private sector socio-economic integration in the region.”
Ibhar Group CEO Dr Moyasser Saddiq said Covertech “is known to draw specialised visitors and decision makers” such as consultants, engineers, hotel managers, real estate development companies, and local and international government officials who visited last year’s exhibition.
“This year’s participants have doubled in numbers to include Qatar, Turkey, Brazil, China, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Ukraine, Italy, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon, in addition to a number of chambers of commerce and industry from Arab and European countries,” Saddiq said.
According to al-Ageel, the exhibition will be “the ideal platform” for companies and stakeholders, particularly Qatari and Gulf corporations, to meet representatives of global companies.
“This is very promising as we are expecting major deals to be concluded and the exchange of more fruitful business relations and expertise. We also hope that Covertech 2017 will form an opportunity to strengthen industrial development and commercial cooperation between GCC countries in the best interest of our beloved Gulf countries,” he said.
