The 26 Vendome collection by jewellery icon Boucheron took centrestage among 51 East’s luxurious brands during the ongoing Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition.
Inspired by the address of Maison Boucherron, 26 Vendome pays tribute to Paris’s most prestigious square, Place Vendome, and features three chapters – ‘Nature Triomphante’, ‘Architecture Inspirée’ and ‘Porté Couture’.
Nature Triomphante is an ode to nature, an endless source of inspiration for Boucheron since the Maison’s foundation in 1858.
The artisans rose to the challenge of a radiant lily with a jonquil heart (‘Lys Radiant’), the wheat of summer (‘Blé d’été’), feathers transforming into distant birds (‘Plume de paon’), and wild animals as a symbol of freedom (‘Animaux de collection’).
Boucheron has always been an ardent admirer of abstraction, whether in geometrical perfection or the pure lines of Art Deco. Architecture Inspirée (Hôtel Particulier, Vendôme Chromatique et Argentique, and Damier Cabochon) explores this other facet of the Maison.
With parents who were both drapers, Frédéric Boucheron’s childhood was infused with memories of all kinds of fabric and materials.
In Porté Couture, the realms of haute couture and high-jewellery come together and fuse into one.
A mantle of light (Cape de Lumière), a ripple of diamonds (Plissé Diamants), and a graphic ribbon made of emeralds and rubies (Ruban graphique) – an array of pieces to wear like precious garments.
