International Islamic will stage the second ‘Career Day’ from January 20-22 at Sheraton Doha, as part of its “commitment” in supporting Qatarisation.
The event is being held to provide nationals, job opportunities with the bank.
“Recruiting Qatari males and females is a strategic decision taken by our human resources department and we ensure that recruited candidates are provided with appropriate training and they benefit from career enhancement and suitable promotions,” said International Islamic CEO Abdulbasit A al-Shaibei.
Al-Shaibei said the Shariah-based bank was inviting Qataris with a General Certificate of Education and a university degree to attend ‘Career Day’ from 8am to 3pm.
“We are proud to put into action the directives issued by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, which stresses on providing utmost care of the Qatari people and developing their skills. At International Islamic, we act in accordance with the governmental plans vis-a-vis Qatarisation,” al-Shaibei said.
He added: “Launching career day reflects our interest in recruiting as many young Qatari males and females as possible and in encouraging them to work in the banking sector where many opportunities and benefits are offered, opening doors to them for a bright and professional future.”
Al-Shaibei stressed that the bank makes sure the recruiting process “is done in the best way possible, thereby contributing to the economic growth of Qatar.”
“The national workforce comprising Qatari males and females is the nation’s greatest asset and for this reason, the bank is committed to investing in them and providing them with the best human resources training and development programmes,” he said.
During ‘Career Day’, job seekers will be interviewed by a screening committee, which will shortlist qualified candidates for the available positions. Due to  heavy turnout at last year’s ‘Career Day’, the bank has extended interview sessions to three days. Last year, al-Shaibei said some 65 Qatari males and females were hired through the initiative. Qualified candidates for the second ‘Career Day’ will undergo a training programme, tailored to equip them with skills needed in the banking sector.
“Our aim is to develop a core team of Qatari professionals at different departments in the bank, which is central to our strategic plan. We have every reason to believe that we can achieve this,” al-Shaibei added.
