The environmental situation in Qatar is stable and there are constant efforts to monitor the situation, especially since the start of the Iranian war crisis, noted His Excellency the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie. He stressed that as all environmental indicators are assuring that the situation is normal, there are no spotted phenomena that may cause any worries.Speaking to Qatar TV last night he sent a strong message of assurance to the public that the environmental situation, including the quality of air and water, is perfectly normal according to the latest information and data collected through the sophisticated local environment monitoring systems. He also stressed that the ministry deals with such information with full transparency and make the instant air quality reports available through an updated, interactive Air Quality Platform on its official website with clear and easily accessible coloured-indicators.He noted that operational environmental monitoring systems record all the related environmental indicators and send instant and immediate data and reports to the ministry operation rooms, where the information is analysed and documented to take the necessary decision in case of any occurrence in co-operation with the relevant entities.The ministry maintains several monitoring systems, in particular for air quality, radiation levels, and oil slicks or spills, and water quality. These work around the clock employing the most sophisticated and advanced equipment in the field and send data instantly. There are 48 air quality stations across various areas in the country and the local waters, and 20 air quality stations by the roadsides. These are constantly updates and enhanced and there are more expansion to come. Besides, the ministry has been investing in the human cadre and improve their skills in the radiation field through the scholarships programmes abroad in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and other relevant department to a have a qualified generation of Qatari professionals in the field.Regarding the risks of any radiation, HE Dr al-Subaie stressed that the ministry has an independent system to monitor the levels of radiation and it cover various areas of the country and the system gives very accurate data. Before, the crisis started, the ministry had conducted a comprehensive survey on the levels of radiations in the air and waters of the state and the levels were normal. Accordingly, all the information that comes now from these monitoring stations is compared to such information, which indicates that the situation is normal.Further, the ministry has early warning systems that can spot any potential sources of radiation or pollution that could cross the boundaries between countries, in addition to active cooperation with all the related entities in the GCC countries and the Atomic Energy Organisation and other regional originations. These all send early warnings and instant reports in case of any risk or abnormal radiation levels thanks to the effective information exchange co-operation.He explained that the ministry has active co-ordination and co-operation with the Civil Defence Council in case any of reports about nuclear reactors' mishap or malfunctioning in the region, where the necessary procedures are explored and taken immediately. Further, there is a simulation scenario for such mishaps or accidents, which anticipates their percussions within the next 48 hours, where the direction and speed of the wind is calculated and the effective measures are taken to deal with this in cooperation with the various concerned entities.Eventually, HE Dr al-Subaie urged the public to avoid listening to rumours and unverified information, as these are thriving these days. He added that the ministry is keen to update the public on any related issues with full transparency and its official platforms are always updated and easily accessible for all. 

Qatar has called for a comprehensive regional solution to the Iran war crisis, stressing that immediate ceasefire efforts must evolve into a framework of lasting peace that safeguards Gulf stability and international maritime security.Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari said the current truce is only a temporary measure and cannot substitute for a permanent settlement.Speaking at the ministry’s weekly media briefing, he affirmed that Qatar strongly supports Pakistan’s mediation efforts and views them as the most credible channel for dialogue.“There is no need for additional mediators,” he emphasised, noting that Qatar and other GCC countries fully endorse Islamabad's initiative and are coordinating closely to consolidate its progress.Al-Ansari said Qatar encourages all positions that facilitate negotiations and ensure that the region’s concerns—particularly those of the Gulf states and Iran — are properly addressed. “Our objective is not limited to a ceasefire followed by renewed crises,” he said, “but rather a lasting peace that secures the interests and sovereignty of all parties.”He added that Qatar is coordinating with partners, including Pakistan and the United States, to support this roadmap and ensure the region’s voice remains central in shaping any future agreement.Reaffirming Qatar’s stance, al-Ansari stressed that regional inclusion is essential in resolving the crisis. “Excluding the region from the negotiating process has led to negative outcomes in the past,” he warned, underscoring that Gulf states must not only be part of the solution but a fundamental element within it. High-level coordination among GCC countries, he said, continues to address shared challenges and strengthen collective defence.On Iran, al-Ansari revealed that a recent call between His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Qatar’s condemnation of Iranian attacks and its support for diplomatic negotiations. He noted that Iran had crossed red lines prior to the ceasefire, which now presents an opening for “a negotiated and secure path forward.”The spokesperson highlighted the urgency of reopening the Strait of Hormuz — currently disrupted by the conflict — without preconditions. He described the strait as an international passage that cannot be subjected to the control of any single party.“Security and freedom of navigation must not be compromised by conflict,” he said, noting that the closure has had global economic repercussions, especially on energy, petrochemicals, fertilisers, and food prices.While reassuring that no Qatari tankers have been attacked or detained, al-Ansari said maritime traffic remains hindered. “It is still too early to predict how conditions will evolve,” he cautioned, as the ceasefire holds but remains fragile.Despite disruptions, al-Ansari affirmed the resilience of Qatar’s economy, citing emergency measures and close monitoring of global supply chains. “We have withstood tougher circumstances,” he said, expressing confidence that Qatar will emerge stronger from this challenge.He also reiterated Qatar’s condemnation of all forms of aggression across the region, including violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty, and underlined Doha’s continued support for Lebanese unity and dialogue-driven de-escalation.Concluding, al-Ansari said Qatar will persist in backing peaceful dialogue and mediation as the only lasting instrument for stability. “Conflicts are not resolved by war,” he reiterated, “but through sustained negotiation, mutual respect, and inclusive regional partnership.” 

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi welcomed the plan announced by US President Donald Trump regarding ending the war in the Gaza Strip. The Secretary General considered that any international effort aimed at ending the crisis and putting a stop to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip deserves praise, engagement, and contribution. He affirmed that a ceasefire, the direct and rapid lifting of restrictions on aid delivery, preventing the displacement of the population from the Strip and protecting them, are priorities that should be at the core of any responsible international action. He stressed that the success of any initiative is contingent on the seriousness of its implementation and on ensuring the protection of civilians and providing suitable conditions for stability. GCC Secretary General indicated that the Cooperation Council views the proposed steps positively, as they could contribute to paving a genuine and just path that guarantees the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also underscored the Cooperation Council's readiness to cooperate with regional and international partners to support every effort that leads to ending the crisis in the Gaza Strip and formulating a solution that preserves all the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution, and achieves security and stability in the region.
