Qatar Charity (QC) has handed over a series of water and sanitation projects across several regions of Senegal, as part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to improve access to safe drinking water and strengthen sanitation services for vulnerable communities. Representatives of administrative and local authorities, community institutions, and local partners attended the handover ceremonies. The water and sanitation projects were implemented in several cities and regions, including Touba, Kaolack, Saint-Louis, Dakar, Matam, Ziguinchor, and Kolda, under an integrated water and sanitation initiative that was valued at more than QR4mn. The initiative seeks to expand access to drinking water, benefit families in need, and improve health conditions in underserved areas. The Qatar Charity initiative included the distribution and installation of 49 water tanks for vulnerable families in neighbourhoods facing limited access to water services in Touba. The initiative also included the construction and handover of 246 wells in targeted areas, helping improve access to drinking water and enhance health and living conditions for more than 70,000 beneficiaries. Local authorities stated that the projects directly address community needs in the water sector and support local development efforts to improve essential services and enhance the quality of life in beneficiary communities. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Daouda Mbow, the deputy administrative governor of Touba, lauded the preparations that preceded the project’s implementation. The official noted that a joint committee comprising representatives of Touba Municipality and officials from various local and social entities, in co-ordination with neighbourhood and village representatives, identified beneficiaries through a precise and transparent mechanism to ensure that assistance reached those who are most in need. Mbow said that the participatory approach adopted by local stakeholders contributed to the initiative’s success and helped achieve its humanitarian and development objectives. He expressed his appreciation to the committee members and all parties involved in the project’s implementation. The offiical also commended Qatar Charity’s continued support for the local communities in Senegal, noting that the organisation’s humanitarian and development interventions have improved living conditions and have had a tangible positive impact on the people’s lives. Mbow urged beneficiaries to preserve the equipment, use it responsibly, and maintain it properly to sustain its benefits and maximise its long-term value for local communities. The projects reflect Qatar Charity’s commitment to advancing humanitarian and development programmes in Senegal, particularly in the water and sanitation sector, which plays a vital role in promoting public health, social well-being, and sustainable development. At the conclusion of the handover ceremonies, beneficiaries and local authorities expressed their appreciation to the QC and its partners for implementing the projects. 

Qatar Charity (QC) has implemented an integrated relief project to support flood-affected families in the Republic of The Gambia, as part of its humanitarian mission and ongoing efforts to respond to natural disasters and assist vulnerable communities. The project was carried out in co-ordination with the National Disaster Management Agency and local authorities in the affected areas to ensure that assistance reached eligible beneficiaries in an organised and effective manner. The project, valued at QR670,000, aimed to alleviate the suffering of families whose homes, belongings, and livelihoods were affected by the floods. It provided food and non-food assistance, as well as construction and shelter materials to support recovery and rehabilitation efforts.**media[476263]**The project benefited 1,200 families in some of the hardest-hit areas. The intervention included distributing 1,200 food baskets containing essential items to strengthen food security and meet the urgent daily needs of beneficiary families. The project also included the distribution of 1,200 blankets as part of its non-food assistance, helping improve shelter conditions and provide protection and comfort for affected families, particularly amid the difficult humanitarian conditions that followed the floods. These materials enabled families whose homes were fully or partially damaged to begin repair and rehabilitation work, helping them restore stability and secure safer shelter. Part of the construction materials was also allocated to the most vulnerable households, including families caring for orphans. Mahmoud Shaker, director of QC’s office in the Republic of The Gambia, said the project reflects QC’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian role in supporting communities affected by disasters and crises. He added that co-operation among charitable organisations, government entities, and local communities is essential to ensure that aid reaches those most in need and creates a sustainable impact on the lives of affected families. Several local officials emphasised that QC’s intervention came at a time when many families were facing difficult humanitarian conditions caused by the floods. They noted that the assistance provided not only met basic needs but also helped restore stability and reassurance to thousands of affected people. The Governor of the Central River Region praised QC’s humanitarian and development efforts in The Gambia, affirming that the project had a direct and tangible impact on affected families and helped restore hope to many households that had lost their homes and sources of income. The Governor of the Lower River Region also commended QC’s swift response to urgent humanitarian needs, noting that the project helped affected families make a fresh start and gave them a real opportunity to resume their normal lives. The executive director of the National Disaster Management Agency expressed appreciation for Qatar Charity’s efforts, stressing that the organisation is one of the key humanitarian partners supporting the Gambian government’s response efforts. He added that the project helped preserve the dignity of affected families, support their recovery from the floods, and enable them to work toward a better future. 

Qatar Charity (QC) has implemented a project aimed at strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities and supporting them through livelihood assistance, food security, and healthcare interventions across four Sudanese states: River Nile, Sennar, Al Jazirah, and the Red Sea. The initiative is funded by generous donations from benefactors in Qatar. During his participation in distributing food baskets to the visually impaired, physically disabled, and the elderly in the Singa locality of Sennar State, Musa Mohammed Mohammed Ahmed, Representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in the state, expressed the appreciation of Sennar's executive and humanitarian authorities to the government and people of Qatar for their continuous support in health, water, and food sectors. Launching the aid convoy, he called for the continuation of this support in the coming period.**media[449401]**Vulnerable GroupsFor his part, Mr. Al-Rashid Mohammed Hussein Ayad, Head of the Blind Union in Singa Locality, stated that Qatar has never stopped supporting them during difficult times, highlighting its recent food aid aimed at boosting the resilience of the most vulnerable social segments, particularly persons with disabilities and the visually impaired. Meanwhile, Mr. Majdi Al-Tayeb, Director of the Al-Noor Center, expressed his gratitude to Qatar Charity for providing 100 food baskets to the visually impaired in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sennar State, adding, "We thank them all for their efforts, and may Allah reward the benefactors.**media[449403]**Dr. Tariq Osman, Acting Country Director of Qatar Charity's Sudan Branch, stated that the distribution of baskets containing essential food items to the most vulnerable groups will continue. He noted that the project includes 3,130 food baskets, with 700 baskets allocated to Sennar State. Each basket contains 10 kg of sugar, 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of flour, 16 packs of vermicelli, 16 packs of pasta, 5 liters of cooking oil, and tea. The launch of the food baskets in Sennar State comes days after Qatar Charity’s teams distributed aid in River Nile and Red Sea states. This is part of a larger project to enhance the resilience of vulnerable groups across several Sudanese states, benefiting approximately 18,780 individuals across the four states of Red Sea, River Nile, Sennar, and Al Jazirah.
