 Qatar is exploring avenues to strengthen bilateral co-operation and identify partnership opportunities in Uzbekistan in strategic projects as part of measures to support economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries.In this regard, HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, headed Qatar’s delegation during an official visit to Tashkent, where he held a series of bilateral meetings with several senior officials, including Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister; Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance; Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade; and Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy.The meetings discussed ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation and explored partnership and investment opportunities across a number of priority sectors, including infrastructure, transport, and other fields that reflect both countries’ aspirations to expand economic co-operation and advance shared interests.On the sidelines of the visit, al-Sayed and Kudratov co-chaired the Qatari-Uzbek roundtable meeting with the participation of representatives from the public and private sectors of both the countries.The Qatari minister highlighted the importance Doha places on this strategic partnership and its interest in exploring new opportunities for co-operation and long-term investment.The two sides also discussed opportunities for co-operation in strategic projects and reviewed investment opportunities available to Qatari investors and institutions.In addition, they explored mechanisms to strengthen co-operation between the public and private sectors and activate the Joint Qatari-Uzbek Business Council, in a manner that supports the establishment of sustainable economic partnerships between the two countries.Qatar’s delegation included senior executive officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Investment Authority, Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, Qatar Chamber, Qatar Airways, Qatar Development Bank, and Qatar Fund for Development.

The State of Kuwait welcomed the agreement reached in Qatar between Pakistan and Afghanistan on an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to consolidate lasting peace and stability between the two countries. Germany and Iceland have agreed to strengthen their military cooperation amid growing Russian threats. A memorandum of understanding signed in Reykjavik focuses on maritime logistics, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said during a meeting with Icelandic Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir. "Germany is, from my point of view, the leading force now in strengthening the security and defence of Europe," Gunnarsdottir said. The Ministry of Labour, in partnership with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT), conducted a three-day intensive training program to strengthen national capacity in identifying and addressing human trafficking in line with international and national standards.The program brought together NCCHT staff supporting hotline operations, personnel from humanitarian care homes, and labour inspectors, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required for early detection of trafficking cases and effective intervention. The initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to secure a dignified life for all residents and foster a thriving, knowledge-based society.As part of Qatar's National Human Trafficking Action Plan 2024-2026, the training underscores ongoing efforts to harmonise and coordinate national measures across government bodies and civil society. It reaffirms the nation's commitment to human rights, Islamic law, the Constitution, and legislation that protects human dignity and prohibits all forms of exploitation.Participants engaged in specialized modules covering legal frameworks, trafficking indicators, national referral mechanisms, and the operational roles of specialised units and labour inspectors in enforcing the law and supporting victims. The training also emphasised a human-rights-centred approach, promoting protection, prevention, and rehabilitation.Human trafficking remains one of the most egregious violations of contemporary human rights, with profound impacts on individual dignity and fundamental freedoms. Effective counteraction requires collaborative efforts, activation of joint coordination mechanisms, strengthened national and international partnerships, and broad awareness of the risks and strategies to combat this crime.Through such initiatives, Qatar continues to build national expertise, raise societal awareness, and foster strategic alliances aimed at preventing and combating human trafficking at national, regional, and global levels.
