Summer retreat rentals across the country are experiencing exceptionally strong demand this season, with booking rates reaching record levels as more citizens and residents choose to spend their holidays within the country.Most reservations began in May and remain high through August, reflecting the growing popularity of private recreational retreats as an alternative to hotels and resorts.  Some owners and booking managers of several retreat facilities noted that many properties have been fully booked throughout the summer season. At the same time, only a limited number of vacancies remain available through social media platforms and online booking websites. They noted that demand this year has exceeded the levels recorded in previous years.Retreats located on the outskirts of Doha, including Al Karaana, Umm Salal, Al Thakhira, Al Khor, and Simaisma, have attracted the highest number of bookings due to their accessibility, spacious surroundings, and open natural settings. Northern coastal areas, particularly Al Ruwais, have also become increasingly popular among families seeking a quieter atmosphere and scenic waterfront views.Rental rates vary depending on location, size and available facilities. Smaller retreats are typically priced between QR1,500 and QR2,500 per day, while medium-sized properties with swimming pools and landscaped gardens range from QR3,000 to QR5,000 per day. Luxury retreats can exceed QR7,000 per day during weekends. Capacity ranges from approximately 10 guests in smaller properties to more than 20 in larger facilities.Farid Mohamed, a booking manager at one of the retreats, said these venues have evolved beyond simple leisure spaces into fully integrated family entertainment destinations. Many now feature separate swimming pools for adults and children, men's majlis, dedicated women's lounges, barbecue areas, sports facilities and rooms equipped with modern electronic gaming systems.He added that retreats remain a more affordable option than hotels and resorts, making them attractive to a broad segment of families. Continuous investment in recreational facilities, including water games and venues suitable for graduation celebrations, birthday parties and family gatherings, has further strengthened their appeal.Ali Abdulhamid, another booking manager, said privacy and comfort remain the top priorities for guests. Operators have therefore focused on providing expansive gardens, spacious seating areas, regular maintenance and cleaning services, and strict compliance with safety standards by installing early-warning systems and strategically placing fire extinguishers.He explained that bookings are typically confirmed with an advance deposit ranging from QR500 to QR1,000. Many modern retreats also include additional attractions such as swimming pools, mini football and volleyball courts, fully equipped kitchens, and outdoor areas spanning 500 to 2,000 square metres, allowing visitors to enjoy a wide range of recreational activities throughout their stay.Operators further warned against the growing number of misleading advertisements circulating on social media, in which images and pricing often do not accurately reflect the properties. They urged prospective renters to request recent photographs or live video tours, inspect the property before making any payments, deal only with trusted booking platforms or reputable intermediaries, review customer feedback and ensure that a written rental agreement clearly outlines the rights and responsibilities of both parties.Despite the sector's strong performance, retreat owners acknowledged several ongoing challenges, including the rising maintenance costs, particularly for swimming pools and landscaped gardens, increasing competition among operators, the negative impact of misleading advertisements on consumer confidence and the seasonal concentration of demand during the summer months, which places considerable operational pressure on facility owners.
