Media City Qatar and the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday to enhance collaboration in content creation, digital innovation, and talent development within Qatar’s media sector. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthen the country’s media ecosystem and supporting national ambitions to position Qatar as a hub for media and creativity. Accordingly, Media City Qatar and the QMC will work together to identify a collection of original projects, including television shows, reality series, feature films, documentaries, and screenplays for co-production or acquisition that will enrich programming while creating new avenues of visibility and growth opportunities for licensed companies within Media City Qatar’s ecosystem. Through Media City Qatar’s Media Innovation Lab, the two entities will also launch pilot projects exploring new storytelling formats, production workflows, and digital transformation strategies. The QMC will benefit from innovation roadmaps, proof-of-concept support, and adoption pathways designed to enhance both broadcast and digital platforms.The partnership further advances talent development and shared infrastructure. Building on the QMC’s ongoing media training efforts, including summer programmes and academic partnerships, the parties will co-design training modules, expand internship pathways, and leverage institutional expertise to support students and early-career professionals. They will explore structured models for mutual access to production studios, post-production facilities, and innovation labs, enabling joint use for co-productions and pilot innovations. The QMC will also be connected to Media City Qatar’s wider ecosystem of content creators, service providers, technology companies, and distribution platforms, enabling integration that fosters collaboration, innovation, and monetisation opportunities in line with national priorities. “This agreement brings together two national organisations in media, Media City Qatar and Qatar Media Corporation, to strengthen the pipeline from idea to screen,” said Media City Qatar chief executive Hamad Omar al-Mannai. “By combining the creative capacity of Media City Qatar’s ecosystem with the legacy of Qatar Media Corporation, we are building original content, accelerating digital transformation, and investing in the next generation of talent.” “These efforts are directly aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, ensuring that our media sector continues to grow as a driver of innovation, creativity, and economic diversification,” he said. “Our collaboration with Media City Qatar opens new pathways for ambitious content and forward-looking innovation,” said QMC’s director of the International Co-operation and Agreements Abdulla Ghanim al-Muhannadi. “By combining our broadcasting expertise with the creative capacity and international networks of Media City Qatar, we can elevate the quality and diversity of programming available to audiences.”“This partnership also ensures that emerging talent and creators have greater opportunities to bring their ideas to life, while we adopt new technologies that strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of Qatar’s media sector,” he said.The collaboration highlights the investment opportunities available in Qatar for studios, technology providers, and content companies seeking to develop and scale projects for regional and international audiences. 

India and Russia are ​in advanced talks to sign ‌a preliminary agreement on critical minerals covering exploration, ‌processing and technological collaboration, two ‌sources familiar with the matter ‌said. The deal is expected to focus on lithium and rare earths, with the two governments also set to facilitate corporate investments, the sources said, declining to be identified as the deliberations were not public.The agreement could be signed within two months, they added. “We have shared a draft of the proposed agreement with our Russian counterparts,” one ​of the sources said. The Ministry of Mines, which is leading discussions with Russia, did not respond to a Reuters e-mail seeking ‌comment. Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and ​the office of First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov ​also did not respond to requests for comment. India is keen to cut its dependence on China, which dominates global supplies of several key minerals and has advanced mining and processing technology, and secure new overseas supplies to support its energy transition and infrastructure development. New Delhi has signed critical minerals agreements with Argentina, Australia and Japan, and is in talks with Peru and Chile on broader ‌bilateral agreements that also ‌include critical minerals. However, India has had limited success in securing overseas critical minerals assets and has so far signed only a single lithium exploration and mining project agreement, covering five blocks in Argentina in 2024. India could also revisit Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom’s lithium exploration project in Mali if the political situation in the West African nation stabilised, one of ​the sources said. Earlier this year, Reuters reported that India withdrew from the Mali lithium project because of security concerns. 

Pakistan has sent fighter jets and ‌other military ⁠forces to ‌Saudi Arabia to boost security ‌under a defence pact between the two countries, the Saudi defence ⁠ministry said today, as Islamabad hosted talks aimed at ending the Iran war.Saudi Arabia's defence ministry said in a statement that Pakistani fighter jets and support aircraft had arrived at the King Abdulaziz Air Base in the country's eastern province.It said the Pakistani deployment aimed to ​strengthen joint defence co-operation and support regional and international security and stability.The planes were sent after Iranian strikes hit key energy infrastructure and ‌killed a Saudi national, ⁠three sources, including a ​senior Pakistani government official, told Reuters.They were "not there ​to attack anyone", said the Pakistani official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.An Iranian strike on Saudi Arabia's sprawling Jubail petrochemicals complex on Monday had raised concerns in Pakistan that the Gulf kingdom might retaliate, potentially jeopardising the Iran peace talks, the three sources said.The Pakistani deployment aimed to reassure Riyadh that Islamabad would help defend the kingdom from any further attacks, the sources said.The ‌Saudi government media office ‌and Pakistan's military did not ⁠respond to requests for comment.Riyadh and Islamabad ⁠signed a mutual defence ⁠pactin September 2025, committing both sides to treat any aggression against either country as an attack on both. That significantly deepened a decades-old security partnership.Pakistan has long provided military support to the kingdom, including training and advisory deployments, while Saudi Arabia has repeatedly ​stepped in to support Pakistan financially during periods of economic stress.Saudi Arabia's finance minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan was in Pakistan on Friday to demonstrate economic support for the country, a source familiar with the situation said.In 2018, Riyadh announced a $6bn support package for Pakistan, including a $3bn deposit at the central bank and $3bn worth of oil supplies on deferred ‌payment.
