Real estate transactions registered with the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice through sales contracts between September 20 and 24 totaled QR516,362,618. The total value of sales for residential units during the same period amounted to QR66,738,529, bringing the week's total real estate trading volume to QR583.101mn.The Department's weekly bulletin indicated that the traded properties included vacant land, houses, residential buildings, a service building, commercial buildings, and residential units.Sales transactions were concentrated in the municipalities of Al Rayyan, Doha, Umm Salal, Al Wakrah, Al Daayen, Al Khor and Al Dhakira, and Al Shamal, as well as in Lusail 69, The Pearl Island, Al Wukair, Al Gharafa, Al Kharayej, and Ghar Thuaileb.Real estate trading through sales contracts had exceeded QR370mn during the period from September 13 to 17.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change announced that the 2026-2027 winter camping season will begin on Oct. 25 and continue until Apr. 20, while registration for the season will open on Oct. 11 through the ministry's website and Bee'ah application.Ministry officials told a press conference held today to announce details of the season that registration will take place in three phases based on the geographical distribution of camping areas. Registration will begin with the central region from Oct. 11-13, followed by the southern region from Oct. 14-16 and the northern region from Oct. 17-21. Registration for all areas will then reopen from Oct. 22-31.Director of the Wildlife Protection Department and Head of the Winter Camping Committee Hamad Salem Al Nuaimi said arrangements adopted for the current season were based on an assessment of last season's experience and observations recorded by specialized field teams, to continue to improve organization, increasing compliance and protecting sites that experience heavy use during the winter months.He said dividing registration into three phases was intended to manage demand and facilitate the booking process. He explained that the first phase covers inland camping areas in Umm Al Afaei, Umm Al Azam, Rawdat Rashid and Rawdat Aisha, as well as coastal camping areas in South Al Kharaij and Abu Samra.During the second phase, registration for the Sealine area will take place on Oct. 14, while registration for Al Kharara (Jaww Al Banat), Afja Muaither, Al Naqian, Mekaines and Al Udeid will open on Oct. 15. All camping areas in the southern region will be opened for registration on Oct. 16. Al Nuaimi said that in the third phase, registration will begin on Oct. 17 for the inland camping areas of Al Sanaa and Al Utouriya, as well as Al Reem Reserve among the camping areas located within nature reserves. On Oct. 18, registration will open for the inland camping areas of Al Khor, North Al Thakhira and Al Waab, as well as the coastal camping areas of Ras Matbakh and Arida. On Oct. 19, registration will open for the inland camping areas of Al Mazroua, Bu Thaila, Saina Al Humaidi and Wadi Al Duhoul, as well as the coastal camping area of Ras Al Nouf.He added that registration will begin on Oct. 20 for the inland camping areas of Al Shamal, Al Ghishamiya, Ain Mohammed and Wadi Al Duhoul, in addition to the coastal camping areas of Abu Dhalouf and Al Zubara. Registration will conclude on Oct. 21 with the opening of registration for the coastal camping area of Al Maroona.Al Nuaimi said camping regulations for this season had been updated regarding the use of motorcycles. The new rules completely prohibit the use or operation of motorcycles in all green arable land (referred to locally as rawd) areas and in all camping areas from 10 pm to 5 am. He said the measures were intended to protect wildlife and preserve the rawd and their natural features. He added that the camping regulations were designed to provide campers with a safe and well-organized environment while protecting inland and coastal sites from practices that could adversely affect them. He stressed that field monitoring was not an end in itself, but rather a means of raising awareness, providing guidance and ensuring the responsible use of sites.The Head of the Winter Camping Committee said the ministry would continue to strengthen the presence of its field teams at various locations throughout the season and make use of modern tools and technologies in monitoring and inspection activities, helping teams quickly identify and address observations while preserving natural sites.For his part, Director of the Public Relations and Communications Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri said the winter camping season holds particular importance for Qatari society as part of its social culture and connection to the desert and nature. He said the ministry was keen to provide suitable conditions for the activity while preserving natural sites and ensuring their sustainability.He said that, alongside the camping season, the ministry would implement a package of awareness programs and activities targeting campers and visitors to inland areas. The initiatives will focus on promoting sound environmental practices, preserving inland and coastal sites, and protecting vegetation and wildlife, as well as raising awareness of proper waste management and maintaining the cleanliness of camping sites.Al Hajri said awareness programs during the season would rely on direct engagement with campers alongside educational content distributed through the ministry's digital platforms to ensure environmental messages reach the widest possible audience.He noted that the ministry had recently sought to strengthen protection of the local environment by launching initiatives to rehabilitate rawd, preserve vegetation, inland and coastal areas and natural habitats, and increase public awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity. He said the ministry aimed to reinforce these efforts further during the camping season.Al Hajri said last season witnessed strong demand, with a total of 2,991 camps, including 1,304 inland camps, 440 coastal camps and 1,247 camps in nature reserves. He said the figures demonstrated the season's importance to the community while reinforcing the need to continue developing procedures and services provided to campers.Regarding electronic services, Head of the Infrastructure and Project Management Section at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Aisha Mohammed Al Muhaiza said the ministry had upgraded the winter camping season registration system and its supporting technical infrastructure to enhance the system's efficiency and stability, improve its readiness to receive applications and facilitate registration procedures for citizens.She urged campers to ensure in advance that their accounts on the National Authentication System are activated and that their information is up to date, particularly as access to the camping system requires these accounts. She said that when accessing the camping system for the first time, the camper is required to enter the expiry date of their Qatari ID card so that the information can be verified before registration procedures are completed. She said the ministry had also updated the information of categories eligible for exemption from fee payments, including retirees and persons with disabilities, in coordination with the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority and the Ministry of Social Development and Family, to ensure the accuracy of information recorded in the system. She added that illustrative images of camping areas had been added following their redivision, enabling campers to view an image of their selected area during registration and before completing payment. She also said the option to select a previous inland camping location had been removed for this season.She added that the permit fee and security deposit must be paid immediately upon booking, with the booking considered canceled if payment is not made. The system will also automatically cancel incomplete registrations if the browser is closed before the procedures are completed or if the registration session expires. (QNA)QNA 1133 GMT 2026/10/01

The Ministry of Justice, represented by the Legal Awareness Section of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, in cooperation with the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, held an introductory workshop on Social Insurance Law No. 1 of 2022 and its executive regulations issued under Cabinet Resolution No. 3 of 2025.The workshop reviewed the legislative development of the country's social insurance system. During an introductory presentation, Nouf Ali Al Mazrouei, a legal specialist at the Ministry of Justice's Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, said the new legislation provides a legal safeguard that balances rights and obligations. It aims to protect individuals and provide financial stability for retirees and their families when income is interrupted due to disability, old age, or illness.The workshop covered the criteria for mandatory participation in the system, which targets every Qatari working in the government sector, private sector or self-employed, as well as workers in sectors exempted from labor law. The law exempts family members - spouses, ascendants and descendants - in private companies. The workshop also highlighted the "income bracket" system for self-employed workers, which is voluntary and carries a contribution rate of 21 percent selected by the insured individual based on estimated income. The authority is empowered to enroll self-employed workers in the system in coordination with their private employers and based on their preference.The workshop included detailed discussions of the differences between actual and credited service, provisions governing the crediting and purchase of service periods, and rules for calculating leave, secondments, scholarships and training courses. Regarding the bonus for service exceeding 30 years of actual service, for a maximum of 10 additional years, the workshop explained that the bonus is calculated at one month's pension for each year during the first five years and two months' pension for each year during the following five years. The calculation is subject to a maximum pension-calculation salary of QR 100,000, while the total bonus may not exceed 50 percent of the total contributions paid into the fund.The event concluded with a discussion session during which Dr. Mohammed Essam, representing the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority, answered attendees' questions about the law and its implementing procedures.The session also recommended raising legal awareness and stressed the importance of continuously updating data through the authority's GRSIA electronic application and the digital portals available to citizens and employers before undertaking retirement procedures.

Qatar is continuing mediation between the United States and Iran to bridge differences and establish common ground for a peaceful solution, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Dr Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari said Tuesday, as he called for regional infrastructure to be protected from further attacks.Speaking at the ministry’s weekly press briefing, al-Ansari, who is also Adviser to the Prime Minister, said Qatar had stressed from the outset the need for a peaceful solution and continued to support Pakistan’s mediation efforts.He said the past few days had witnessed several meetings and exchanges of messages between the parties, including contacts in New York during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly and others that took place earlier.Efforts to arrange meetings and facilitate the exchange of messages between the parties were continuing, he said.Addressing the wider regional escalation, al-Ansari reiterated Qatar’s strong condemnation of the targeting of infrastructure by any party.He said attacks on infrastructure, energy facilities and vessels served only to harm the interests of people, stressing that the peoples of the region did not deserve to be dragged into the conflict.Infrastructure and vital facilities must be respected amid any regional escalation, he said, adding that threats against them violated the principles of international law and good-neighbourly relations.Al-Ansari acknowledged that any agreement would face obstacles, saying the purpose of mediation was precisely to overcome difficulties and narrow differences between the parties. Meetings and diplomatic contacts were continuing, he added.Asked about the possibility of non-aggression agreements between the Gulf Co-operation Council states and Iran, al-Ansari said the countries of the region had not chosen to become part of the war and had no conflict with Iran.He said Iran had decided to strike countries in the region as a consequence of the war involving Iran, Israel and the United States.Al-Ansari urged Iranian officials to distance both their country and the wider region from the conflict, saying the attacks constituted aggression against sovereign states in the region.He said the GCC states and other countries in the region had long advocated resolving differences through dialogue.Qatar, he said, sought peaceful coexistence between the region’s countries and Iran and remained engaged in negotiations despite having itself been subjected to an Iranian missile attack.Doha had not wavered from its position that dialogue represented the only solution to the crisis, he stressed.Al-Ansari called for a regional security framework founded on coexistence, non-aggression and good-neighbourly relations, saying the first step should be an understanding that regional states would not be targeted in any future escalation.The immediate focus, he said, was on bridging differences and reaching a peaceful solution that would allow regional countries to resume freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz while addressing their security concerns.Turning to Gaza and efforts to move to the second phase, al-Ansari said Qatar had been engaged in the issue from the outset.He referred to a meeting of eight Arab and Islamic countries in New York and more than 12 meetings at ministerial and other levels dealing with Gaza and the Palestinian territories.Qatar had been directly involved in the negotiations and had witnessed the parties coming close to making progress on several occasions, only for the momentum to be reversed, he said.Al-Ansari accused the Netanyahu government of repeatedly seeking to undermine ceasefire efforts, saying that escalation on the ground had repeatedly followed progress in negotiations.He also warned of developments in the West Bank, saying attempts were being made to impose a new reality contrary to the international consensus established since the Oslo Accords.Such developments could not be ignored, he said.Al-Ansari welcomed decisions by countries that had imposed sanctions and other measures over settlement activity in the West Bank, calling for intensified international efforts to halt Israeli violations, particularly actions seeking to alter the status quo in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.He also warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza continued to deteriorate, with humanitarian challenges mounting daily.Qatar, he said, had made its position clear at the UN General Assembly in New York through the address of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and statements by Qatari officials at various meetings, underscoring the centrality of the Palestinian cause.Al-Ansari said Qatar would continue working with its regional partners and the international community to advance a political solution and support the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.Addressing the economic repercussions of the regional conflict, al-Ansari warned that the consequences extended far beyond energy supplies.Countries in the region supplied the world not only with energy products but also goods vital to food security, petrochemicals, aluminium and other industries, he said. 

Qatar's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is now accepting entries for the 2026-27 Gulf Cooperation Council Environment and Wildlife Award, according to a ministry statement on Tuesday.The statement invited government and semi-government bodies, academic and research institutions, private companies, civil society organizations and individuals to take part in the prestigious award. The award recognizes those driving meaningful progress in biodiversity and sustainability across the Gulf region.The deadline for nominations is March 2027.According to the ministry, the competition covers three main areas: innovation and technology in biodiversity and its management; community participation in biodiversity protection; and projects focused on restoring and rehabilitating ecosystems. Participants can identify a primary category for their project while also highlighting any related secondary areas.The ministry said entries must involve completed projects or initiatives that have achieved measurable results relevant to the award's objectives.Applicants are required to submit a separate application and nomination file for each entry, along with a video of no more than two minutes explaining the project and its results.Submissions must also include an executive summary of no more than two pages and supporting documents and reports demonstrating the environmental outcomes and practices involved.Applications will be reviewed by the ministry before being referred through the approved procedures to the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for evaluation and judging.The winners are expected to be honored and presented with their awards on the sidelines of the 2027 meeting of GCC ministers responsible for environmental affairs. 

 Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Transport, is taking part in the 26th Joint Meeting of the Technical Committees for Land, Sea, and Multimodal Transport, which opened at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo yesterday.  Attended by representatives and experts in transportation indust ry from the Arab countries, and several organisations, and Arab, regional and international unions, the two-day meeting agenda includes discussions on several topics related to transportation and logistics in the Arab region.  On top of the agenda are the Arab Agreement to Regulate Passenger Land Transport between and across the Arab States, and a proposal to adopt the Arab Union of Land Transport’s electronic portal as the designated online gate for land transportation information across Arab countries; in a significant step toward digital transformation and standardisation and exchange of transportation-related data and information.  The meeting also discusses standardising specifications for dimensions and axle loads for trucks operating between Arab countries to help enhance the smooth flow of road transportation and make transportation operations among them easier. 

The Ministry of Labour Sunday began consultations on the Private Sector Nationalisation Plan, bringing together state-owned companies and public-benefit entities to discuss measures to increase Qatari employment and address implementation challenges.His Excellency Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri chaired the first session, attended by chief executives and senior management representatives from the participating organisations.The session is part of a series aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of the Private Sector Nationalisation Law, identifying practical mechanisms, examining challenges facing the private sector and gathering companies’ views and proposals.The minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with private-sector companies and institutions to help fulfil the law’s objectives. He stressed the importance of listening to companies, understanding the difficulties they may face and working together on appropriate solutions.He said the plan provides an integrated framework for increasing the employment of Qataris in the private sector through clear targets, effective incentives, stronger partnerships and continuous monitoring.Its success, he added, depends on coordinated efforts by the ministry, sector regulators and private-sector companies and establishments.The minister described the consultative sessions as a platform for dialogue among all stakeholders involved in implementing the law, stressing that continued consultation with companies and institutions is central to meeting the plan’s targets and increasing Qatari participation in the private-sector workforce.

Those who engage in blackmailing in Qatar could face up to three years in prison and a fine of as much as QR100,000, according to an official from the Ministry of Interior (MoI)’s Economic and Cybercrimes Prevention Department.During a cybercrime awareness webinar organised by the MoI, First Lieutenant Eng. Adnan Hasan al-Rashid stressed the importance of understanding Qatar’s cybercrime laws and reporting blackmail incidents immediately.First Lt al-Rashid urged members of the public, particularly workers, to be aware that threatening or blackmailing another person can have serious legal consequences.He warned that even acts committed out of ignorance of Qatar’s laws could result in prosecution.“Blackmailing though online platforms or other means is a crime punishable by Qatari Law Article No.6,” First Lt al-Rashid said.“It states: A sentence of not more than three years of imprisonment and a fine of up to not more than QR100,000 or either these penalties shall be imposed on any person who uses information network or information technology technique to threaten or blackmail another person to make him or her do or refrain from a certain action,” he said.The official also urged residents to remain vigilant against cybercrime, strengthen their online security practices and report suspected crimes immediately to the Cyber and Economic Crimes Prevention Department.The department is responsible for collecting evidence, investigating cybercrime cases and identifying perpetrators using modern technological tools, programs and investigative methods.First Lt al-Rashid also advised victims of blackmail not to respond to the perpetrator’s demands or pay money.Giving in to an initial demand, he said, may encourage the blackmailer to demand larger amounts.“Instead, victims should immediately report the incident to the Cybercrimes Prevention Department and preserve all available evidence, including phone numbers, social media accounts, e-mail addresses, messages and other information used by the perpetrator,” the official advised.The department has emphasised that speedy reporting is crucial, as an early complaint can allow the authorities to take action quickly and provide support to victims.The awareness session also urged companies and organisations to educate their employees about cybercrime laws and the consequences of blackmail, particularly workers who may be unfamiliar with Qatar’s legal requirements.Public awareness and prompt reporting remain among the key measures in preventing cybercrime and protecting people from online threats and blackmail.Under Qatar’s Cybercrime Prevention Law No. 14 of 2014, cybercrime includes the unlawful use of information technology, information systems or the Internet in violation of the law.First Lt al-Rashid also drew attention to privacy protections in Qatar, advising residents to exercise caution when taking photographs in public places.“Residents should avoid photographing people without permission and to be particularly careful when photographs taken in public areas include families or other individuals,” he said.During the webinar, residents were advised to: enable two-step verification for e-mail and other important accounts, add a phone number and backup e-mail address to account recovery settings, avoid opening links received from untrusted sources, and not to disclose personal or financial information in response to suspicious e-mails or messages.They were also told to keep bank card PINs (personal identification numbers) confidential and avoid writing them in publicly accessible places.First Lt al-Rashid warned that fraudsters may create fake websites that imitate the colours, fonts and designs of well-known companies and organisations in an attempt to deceive users. 

Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), opened the seventh edition of Career Village Tuesday at KidZania Doha. Qatar’s largest career exploration programme brings together more than 40 public and private sector employers.The event runs through September 28-30 and is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Labour, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau. High school students from public, private, and international schools are participating through prearranged school visits and a structured training programme.Interactive exhibits, simulations, workshops, and conversations with professionals introduce students to what different careers involve, their requirements, and the educational pathways that lead to them. These activities help students explore their interests and begin planning their education and careers based on what they learn and experience.Participating organisations represent education, energy and utilities, technology, healthcare, aviation, security, media, tourism, and other key sectors. The event also connects academic and career counsellors and educators with sector experts, providing information and insights they can use to guide students.Career Village is part of QCDC’s portfolio of job-shadowing and experiential learning programmes, designed to build career awareness through direct exposure to the world of work at different stages of students’ education. 

The Ministry of Labour announced Sunday the 22 winners of the inaugural Qatar Private Sector Nationalisation Award 2026, recognising 14 entities and eight individuals for outstanding contributions to nationalisation across nine key sectors.During the press conference announcing the award winners, Her Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman al-Thani expressed her pride in the achievements of the winning individuals and establishments, saying that these accomplishments reflect their excellence and active contributions to supporting the nationalisation drive and enhancing the presence of national talent within the private sector.Beyond recognising individual achievements, the award reflects the ministry’s broader view of nationalisation as a long-term investment in Qatar's human capital and in the private sector's capacity to develop, retain and benefit from national talent.The assistant undersecretary for National Manpower Affairs in the Private Sector, Khames Mohammed al-Nuaimi, outlined the key aspects of the award's inaugural edition, the level of participation and engagement it attracted, and the major indicators and results emerging from the evaluation and judging stages, in preparation for the announcement of the winners.He said that the award covers nine sectors through sectoral and thematic categories.Individuals accounted for 59% of the 426 applications, while entities represented 41%.Participation was highest in Financial Services, followed by Logistics Services and Education.Organisations of all sizes competed on the quality and effectiveness of their nationalisation practices, with small and medium-sized entities participating alongside larger organisations.Applications first underwent eligibility screening and desk assessment, followed by field assessments and interviews, before advancing to the judging stage.The assessment included 56 field visits to eligible entities and 59 interviews with eligible individuals.The final results were submitted to the Award's Board of Trustees, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Samikh al-Marri for approval.
